    Book entitled "The Accidental Prime Minister" written by Sanjaya Baru released

    "The Accidental Prime Minister: the making and unmaking of Manmohan Singh", a memoir authored by Sanjaya Baru was released on 11th April 2014. Sanjaya Baru was the media advisor of the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh between 2004 and 2008.

    The memoir has highlighted the fact that how the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) suffered from the duality of control and responsibility that affected the overall policy decision making.

    According to author, he wrote the book with a motive to let people know the success and failure of Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of India.

    The book has been published by Penguin India.

    SOLAR IMPULSE 2, a Solar Plane unveiled in Switzerland

    Swiss made airplane named as SOLAR IMPULSE 2 was unveiled to the world at Switzerland's Payerne Air Force Base. 

    The solar plane will circumnavigate the world in March 2015. The solar plane can fly around the world for five consecutive days without using any fuel. Swiss pilots Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard have developed the solar powered aircraft. Solar Impulse 2 is a bigger and better version of the single-seater prototype that first took flight five years ago.

    The maximum speed of aircraft is 140 kilometers per hour (87 mph).

    SSB to induct Women as Combat Officers

    Second largest border guarding force SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) has been given approval by The Union Home Ministry for recruitment of young women as combat officers.

    Young women under and up to the age of 25 years will be recruited as direct entry officers in the rank of assistant commandants (ACs). The women officers will have an opportunity to serve in far-flung border of Indian Territory like Nepal and Bhutan. 

    OUE Singapore Open 2014 won by Santoso

    Player of Indonesia, Simon Santoso won the OUE Singapore Open 2014 for the first time on 13th April 2014. He won it by defeating  Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, badminton's world number one player by 21-15, 21-10 in final match held in Singapore.  Santoso won a large sum of 300000 US Dollars as a prize money.

    Started in 1987, Singapore Open is a major sporting even in Badminton.

    Vinz Whangarei Car Rally won by Gaurav Gill

    MRF driver, Gaurav Gill won Whangarei Rally by a lead of 11.9 seconds on 13th April 2014. It is his sixth career victory in FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC).

    Gaurav Gill was driving his Skoda fabia S2000 for team MRF. He had won APRC championship in 2013 too. European champion, Jan Kopecky (Czech Republic) obtained second position.

    London Marathon won by Wilson Kipsang

    Wilson Kipsang of Kenya won the 34th London Marathon on 13th April 2014. Total 26.2 mile route was completed by him in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 29 seconds. Kipsang won the title for the second time, as earlier he won it in 2012. 

    Second place was secured by Stanley Biwott (also from Kenya).

    Important to note : 

    London Marathon is a long distance running event. For the first time, the event was organized in 1981. 

    Justice G Rohini appointed as the first women Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

     Justice G Rohini's appointed was approved by President of India on 11th April 2014 as the Next Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. With this approval Justice G Rohini will become the first women Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.

    She is 58 year's old and was serving as senior most judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court at the time of appointment.

    Now she will be serving Delhi High Court for a period of four years.
