    India successfully test-fired Guided - Pinaka Rocket 

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 12th January 2017 India successfully test-fired the Guided Pinaka rocket from Integrated Test Range (ITR) launch pad at Chandipur in Odisha. 

    However, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Chairman S. Christopher congratulated the scientists, industry and the armed forces for the successful flight test of the new rocket version. 

    The Guided Pinaka is known to be a modified version of the Pinaka rocket, equipped with a navigation, guidance and control kit. 

    Barack Obama surprises whom with Presidential Medal of Freedom - Joe Biden

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 12th January 2017 Barack Obama has surprised the vice-president, Joe Biden, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

    However, a teary-eyed Biden accepted the medal, the highest civilian honor, at a ceremony at the White House.

    Also, Obama said he was bestowing the honor on Biden for “faith in your fellow Americans, for your love of country and a lifetime of service that will endure through the generations”.

    Here, Obama He called the vice-president an “extraordinary man with an extraordinary career in public service”.

    Name the Free-of-cost service to ferry remains of NE people - Aakhiri Ahuti

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 13th January 2017 Delhi Police in association with IndiGo has launched 'Aakhri Ahuti' service to ferry human remains of underprivileged North-Eastern people free of cost.

    According to Delhi police - "Aakhri Ahuti is known to be a humanitarian initiative, which is taken by Delhi Police in co operation with IndiGo to transport/carry the remains of the deceased people from the North-east free of cost to the North- eastern destinations on IndiGo's network," 

    However, Under the service, it is only on the recommendation from the office of Delhi Police's North-East unit, IndiGo will ferry the human remains on a case-to-case basis.

    Well, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner Robin Hibu said, "We are humbled by IndiGo's gesture to extend support to the affected people from North-East India. More than 12 lakh people are working in different organized and unorganised sectors like BPOs, malls, private companies, hospitals, hotel industry, and as security guards, to mention some, from the North-eastern states. Ferrying human remains from Delhi to North-east by air is a costly affair."

    Who has been appointed as a distinguished Senior Fellow of Atlantic Ocean – Manish Tewari

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 11th January 2017 Former Union Minister Manish Tewari has been appointed as a distinguished Senior Fellow at the South Asia Center of the Atlantic Council, a leading US think-tank on policy matters. 

    Howeevr, at the council, Tewari will work on developing programmes that are aimed at strengthening US-India ties.
