    Where did the ICICI Bank’s first Chinese branch inaugurated - Shanghai

    Among the important International Current Affairs, On 16th May 2015, ICICI Bank’s first branch in China was launched in Shanghai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of ICICI Bank’s MD and CEO Chanda Kochhar inaugrated the bank.

    The branch will begin operational with 17 banking professionals handling different functions including operations, finance, corporate banking and treasury. This branch will also play important role in the growing trade and investment opportunity between India and China.

    Currently ICICI Bank is India’s biggest private sector lender with presence in 17 countries and a total consolidated asset base of US $ 132 billion.

    Name the new catfish species discovered in Manipur - Glyptothorax senapatiensis

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 16th May 2015, New catfish species named Glyptothorax senapatiensis was recently discovered by scientists from the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI). It was discovered in Chindwin river drainage in Senapati district of Manipur.

    Ngapang is the name given to this catfish species and mainly used by for food by local regional peeople.

    Glyptothorax senapatiensis is six-cm-long fish present in freshwater. It has high nutritional value and has high oil content and is considered as edible.

    Which Egyptian President has been sentenced to death - President Mohammed Morsi

    On 16th May 2015, Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was sentenced to death by Cairo court for his part in a mass jailbreak in 2011. Morsi is leader Muslim Brotherhood Party.

    Earlier he was sentenced to 20 years in jail for charges of counter-intelligence for his involvement in ordering the arrest and torture of opponents during his time in strength.

    In 2011, after the military rule under Hosni Mubarak came to end, he was Egypt’s first freely elected president.
