    Anti-terror Bill approved by French parliament aimed at travel ban of jihadists

    On 16th September 2014, French Parliament approved a new anti-terror bill aimed at preventing jihadists from travelling. This will prevent jihadists from travelling to Iraq, Syria or elsewhere by confiscating their passports.

    This ban will also cover the messages posted on the internet.

    Croma and Snapdeal inked tie up to sell electronic items online

    On 16th September 2014,  Tata Group company Croma signed a deal with Snapdeal. This step was taken by Croma to boost their sales online and It will help Snapdeal to leverage offline strength of Croma. 

    Both the firms will collaborate on customer and vendor outreach programmes and category development.

    Microsoft Corp acquired Minecraft game maker Mojang in 2.5 billion dollars

    On 15th September 2014, Software Gaint Microsoft Corp acquired the Swedish video game company Mojang for 2.5 billion US dollars. This will help them to attract yung audience towards them if we talk about mobile world specifically.

    WPI Inflation in August 2014 was a 5 year low at 3.74 percent

    WPI (Wholesale Price Index) inflation of India was on record five year low of 3.74 percent in August 2014. WPI data was released on 15th September 2014 from which this fact came out. In August 2013 it was 6.99 percent.

    Besides, the retail inflation measured by Consumer Price Index (CPI) also eased to 7.8 percent in August 2014 as compared to 7.96 percent in July 2014.

    Kaushik Basu appointed as President-Elect of International Economic Association

    On 16th September 2014, The International Economic Association (IEA) appointed Kaushik Basu as president-elect of the association. He is already Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of World Bank and will also continue to it too. 

    After Amartya Sen he is the second Indian to join IEA. 

    Kaushik Basu was awarded with Padma Bhushan in May 2008 by President of India.

    Actor Leonardo DiCaprio Appointed as UN Messenger of Peace

    On 16th September 2014, Actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio was designated as the United Nations Messenger of Peace by UN chief Ban Ki-moon. 

    He was choosen with a special focus on climate change. 

    He will be addressing the UN Climate Change Summit in the US on 23 September 2014 as a Messenger of Peace.

    Autobiography of actor Naseeruddin Shah released with title "And then One Day: A Memoir"

    On 12th September 2014, Noted Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah released his autobiography. Title of the book is "And then One Day: A Memoir".

    Book is an inspiring memoir, which includes his journey from a small village near Meerut to his film fame.

    Chinese President Xi Jinpin India visit - Gujarat Govt signed three pacts with China

    On 17th September 2014, President of China, Xi Jinping arrived in India at Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Xi Jinping is on official visit of three days to India. 

    He signed three MoU's with Gujrat Govt on very first day, which includes to establish Sister Province relations between Guangdong, China and Gujarat. Also it covers cooperation in economy and trade. Apart from this iNDEXTb will assist Chinese investors in obtaining required clearances and creating infrastructure facilities in the industrial parks. iNDEXTb is an agenct of Gujrat Govt for investment promotion.
