    Assembly Election results Maharastra and Haryana

    On 19th October 2014, Assembly Polls results were declared for Maharashtra (288 seats) and Haryana (90 seats). 

    Ruling Party at centre, BJP got majority in Haryana by winning 47 seats out of 90 seats and was also emerged as largest party in Maharashtra by winning 122 seats out of 288 seats.

    Union Government completely de-regulated the prices of retail diesel

    On 18th October 2014, Indian Government deregulated diesel prices or we can say that government will no longer decide the diesel selling price. Oil retailers such as Indian Oil Corp, BPCL and HPCL will be deciding this.

    Cabinet approves relaunching of DBT

    On 18th October 2014, Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the Modified Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme in LPG being re-launched in 54 districts from mid november and it will be expanding in rest of country from 1st Jan 2015. 

    The Modified DBTL scheme will ensure that entitlement of LPG consumers is not diverted for ineligible purpose and public funds so saved can be utilized in nation building. LPG consumers are advised to join the scheme to protect their entitlement of subsidized cylinders.

    India juniors retain Sultan of Johor Cup title

    On 19th October 2014, India juniors of hockey retain Sultan Of Johor Cup (SOJC) title. India defeated Great Britain by 2-1 in the final held at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium, Malaysia.

    Hero of the match was Harmanpreet Singh who converted two penalty corners to goals. Since the inception of SOJC, India became first team to get this title twice. SOJC was started in 2011. Last year also Indian team got this trophy.
