    India won elections in - Two UN subsidiary bodies

    On 21st April 2017, India won two subsidiary bodies elections of a United Nations (UN) Organisations. These are Committee for Programme and Coordination (CPC) and International Narcotics Control Board.

    India got most votes in Asian Group as 49 out of 50 members of ECOSOC group voted in favour of India in CPC Election.

    India along with other 12 members was elected for three years time period in Committee for Programme and Coordination (CPC).

    In International Narcotics Control Board, India was elected among other 19 nations for the period of four years. 

    Where was first India-Indonesia Energy Forum held - Jakarta

    On 20th April 2017, First ever India - Indonesia Energy Forum was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. From Indian side Union Minister Piyush Goyal was present at the occasion while from Indonesia side Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan participated in the event.

    This was held with an aim to discuss policy framework and investment opportunities in India and Indonesia. Related MoU's were also inked for same. 

    When was International Mother Earth Day 2017 observed - 22nd April 2017

    Among Important Days, On 22nd April 2017, International Mother Earth Day was observed across the globe. Theme of this year was Environmental & Climate Literacy.

    This day is obsereved with an aim to raise awareness among people about saving nature for future generations.

    In 2009 United Nations General Assembly established the International Mother Earth Day under Resolution A/RES/63/278. The Plurinational State of Bolivia introduced this resolution and it was furthur endorsed by 50 member states.
