    Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award 2014 announced

    On 26th September 2014, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards 2014 were announced by CSIR. Awards were announced by Director General of CSIR Dr. Paramvir Singh Ahuja on CSIR’s 72nd Foundation day in New Delhi.

    The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize includes a citation, a plaque and a cash of 5 lakh rupees in prize.

    Following were the winners of this prestigious award :

    • Dr. Roop Mallik (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai) for Biological Sciences.
    • Dr. Kavirayani Ramakrishna Prasad (Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru) and Dr. Souvik Maiti (Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB), New Delhi) for Chemical Sciences.
    • Dr. Sachchida Nand Tripathi (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur) for Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences.
    • Dr. S Venkata Mohan (Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad) and Dr. Soumen Chakrabarti (Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai) for Engineering Sciences.
    • Dr. Kaushal Kumar Verma (Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru) for Mathematical Sciences.
    • Dr. Anurag Agrawal (Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB), New Delhi) for Medical Sciences.
    • Dr. Pratap Raychaudhuri (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research of Mumbai) and Dr. Sadiqali Abbas Rangwala (Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru) for Physical Sciences.

    SBI signed 500 million dollar Line of Credit with Korea Eximbank

    On 26th September 2014, State Bank of India announced that it has signed a Line of Credit (LoC) of 500 million dollar with Export-Import Bank of Korea.

    By this Line of Credit SBI will able to help its clients in India and neighbouring countries that have business relationships either by way of equity participation or regular trade with Korean companies globally.

    Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan resigned

    On 26th September 2014, Prithviraj Chavan resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

    Governor of the state C Vidyasagar Rao accepted his resignation. He had to give resignation after the withdrawal of the support of Nationalist Congress Party from Congress party.
