    Historian Tapan Raychaudhuri passed away

    Noted historian of modern India's economic and social history Tapan Raychaudhuri passed away on 26th November 2014 at his home in England. He was 88 years old. 

    He was a Reader in Modern South Asian History at St. Antony’s College, Oxford from year 1973 to 1993.

    He was an Indian historian specialising in British Indian history, Indian economic history and the History of Bengal and was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2007 in recognition to his contributions to history.

    New Secretary General of Lok Sabha is Anoop Mishra

    On 26th November 2014, Former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Anoop Mishra was appointed as new Secretary General of the Lok Sabha by Speaker of Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan.

    His this appointment will come in effect from 1st December 2014 to 30th November 2016.

    Book titled Black Tornado : The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11 released

    New Book authored by Sandeep Unnithan titled "Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11" was released on 23rd November 2014. 

    26/11 which was a very sad day for every Indian as Mumbai was under attack of militants. The response to this attack was the first instance of all three wings of the Indian armed forces coming together to fight terror. 

    NSG called this operation Black Tornado, which is the story of the men called into action including army personnel, Indian Navy and the air force in the desperate hours following the most sensational terrorist attack the country had ever seen. 

    Crime novelist PD James passed away

    On 27th November 2014, Crime novelist Phyllis Dorothy James passed away. She was 94 years old, she took her last breath in Oxford, UK. Her series of detective novels starring the policeman and poet Adam Dalgliesh are very popular and many of her novels were adapted for television.

    MoU for cooperation in Oil and Gas sector inked between India and Mozambique

    On 28th November 2014, a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) was inked between India and Mozambique for for cooperation in Oil and Gas sector. This will be valid for a period of five years. 

    Important to mention here that this MoU was signed during the India visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi. It is expected to boost the bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit between two countries. Mozambique plans to produce 34 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually from its Rovuma Area 1 offshore block - where state-run ONGC Videsh Ltd, Oil India and Bharat Petroleum Corp have bought 30 percent stake.
