    Union Ministry for Power flagged off - three Mobile Science Labs

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 27th April 2015, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy flagged off three NTPC Mobile Science Labs (MSL) for revolutionizing education in rural India.

    MSL is a vehicle fitted with LCD TV carrying working Science Models which emphasizes curiosity based learning for children. It is an action to make hands-on learning accessible amongst underprivileged children.

    Agastya International Foundation will initially deploy these three MSLs at NTPC's ongoing projects at Kahalgaon, Pakri Barwadih and Darlipalli. A set of about 20 schools around NTPC project generating about 16000 student exposures per year will be covered by each MSL.

    Who has won the Shamkir Chess Tournament - Magnus Carlsen of Norway

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 26th April 2015, World Champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway won the Shamkir chess tournament. Azerbaijani Rauf Mamedov was defeated by Carlsen in the last and final round to finish the tournament.

    With this win, Carlsen earned 13 ELO points to top the world ranking with 2875 points and retained the title for the second year in consecutively.

    Name the ship which has departed for Lokayan-2015 - INS Tarangini

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 27th April 2015, the Sail Training Ship of Indian Navy, INS Tarangini, left Kochi for Lokayan 2015. The theme for Lokayan -15 is Taking for a Broader Reach.

    Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba, the flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern naval Command flagged off the ship in a departure ceremony conducted at the naval base, Kochi.

    Tarangini will be on an 8 month journey through Europe and will participate in the annual Tall Ship Races and other events organised under the sponsorship of Sail Training International. 17000 miles approx will be travelled by the ship under sails during this eight months period.

    Defence deal has been revised by - Japan and the US

    On 27th April 2015, United States (US) and Japan, for greater co-operation between their defence forces, inked a new set of defence accord. To administer with growing global security concern both the countries have revised their defence deal after 18 years.

    Defense Minister, Gen Nakatani and the Japanese Foreign Minister, Fumio Kishida, and Defense Secretary, Ashton Carter, and US Secretary of State, John Kerry, signed the deal.

    The guidelines of the deal allow for global cooperation militarily, ranging from defence against ballistic missile, cyber and space attacks as well as maritime security.

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 28th April 2015, 5th Senior Men’s National Hockey championship 2015 was won by Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB). Uttar Pradesh Hockey (UPH) was defeated by Railways in the final match played in Pune.

    Delhi government accepted farmer compensation scheme in the name of - Gajender Singh

    On 28th April 2015, a farmer compensation scheme named after Gajendra Singh has been settled up after the approval of Government of Delhi. On 22nd April 2015, Gajendra Singh committed suicide during an AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) rally by hanging himself with a tree.

    Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the decision on name of the scheme during a Cabinet meet. According to the reports, Delhi government will distribute compensation to rain-hit farmers from first week of May 2015.

    State government has also announced to give job to a member of Gajendra's family and martyr status for him, as demanded by the farmer's kin.
