    Governor of Manipur Mr. Vinod Kumar Duggal resigned

     On 28th August, Manipur Governor Mr. Vinod Kumar resigned. He was appointed as the Governor of the state on 23rd Dec 2013. Well this was the ninth resignation of the Governor since the new NDA Government has came to power.

    Mr. Vinod Kumar who is 1968 batch IAS officer has also served as Home Secretary from 2005-2007. 

    Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi

    On 28th August 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana which is supposed to be a mega financial inclusion plan. RuPaydebit cards with insurance cover of 1 lakh rupees will be provided to crores of people across the country who have no formal access to banking facilities. 

    With a basic aim of bringing financially poor people into the banking system this had a great start but still has a long way to go.

    It has a target to bring more than 7.5 crore un-banking families into banking system of India. 

    13 year old, a school boy of Delhi, Yashwardhan Shukla pens "Gods of Antarctica"

    13 year old, a school boy of Delhi, Yashwardhan Shukla authored a novel, name of the novel is "Gods of Antarctica". Printed by Readers Paradise publishers this a fictional book based on tale of Gods and monsters. 

    This novel is based on a school kid whose name is David. David lands up accidentally in Antarctica after losing his entire family to a monster attack.

    On 29 August, National Sports Day was celebrated in memory of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand

     On 29th August 2014, National Sports Day was celebrated across the country. Every year 29th August is observed as the National Sports Day in honour of Hockey legend Dhyan Chand. 

    At Dhyan Chand National stadium friendly hockey matches were played as a tribute to Hockey legend. 

    Major Dhyan Chand who is India's greatest hockey player has earned this name by scoring more than 1000 goals between 1926 and 1948.

     

    JIC chief RN Ravi appointed as Naga interlocutor by PMO

    On 29th August 2014, chairman of Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) RN Ravi was appointed as Naga interlocutor. He will be representing Govt of India in Naga peace talks. Mr Ravi has already having expertise in Northeast affairs so he was selected.
