    Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Bill, 2016 introduced in - Lok Sabha

    Among Important Financial Current Affairs, On 28th November 2016, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley introduced Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Loksabha.

    This became an important news as it is linked with undisclosed income. This bill seeks 50 percent the unaccounted demonetised cash that is disclosed voluntary till 30 December 2016 and then after that up to 85 percent tax and penalty will be levied on if authorities discovers undisclosed income after 30th December 2016.

    Which state will become first cashless state of India - Goa

    After demonetization, Goa is preparing itself to become first state of India to be cashless. As from 31st December 2016 state will be operating cashless.

    Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar ( Former CM of Goa ) announced it as Goa is planning to equip small vendors too with mobile payment as all vendors will be having Mobile Money Identifier (MMI) codes. These codes will be given to them on registration with banks. Then clients will able to make transaction by dialing *99#.

    This way money will be automatically debited from client's account and will be credited to Vendor account.

    Who has been appointed as Director-General of Military Operations - Lt-General A K Bhatt

    Among Important Appointments, On 28th November 2016, Lt-General A K Bhatt was appointed as Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO). He will be succeeding Lt-General Ranbir Singh. 

    Lt-General Ranbir Singh will be serving as head of 1 Corps (headquarters at Mathura).

    Lt-General A K Bhatt is from Gorkha Rifles.

    Which village became first Digital village of India - Akodara

    Akodara village is in the news as it has became first digital village in India. Akodara village is located in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. This village got this tag as it uses cashless systems for payments of goods and services using net banking, card payments or SMS.

    This village has its own website and its url is http://akodara-digitalvillage.in and this village has high speed broadband connectivity.

    SMS banking platform for village has been given by ICICI bank.

    Which country will honour 1668 martyrs of the Indian Army - Bangladesh

    Among Important Defence News, 1668 martyrs of the Indian Army will be honoured by Bangladesh. These martyrs are those Indian Army men who fought in the 1971 India-Pakistan war for liberation of Bangladesh ( which was East Pakistan earlier ).

    Family members of Martyrs will be honoured with Rs 5 Lakh each as a symbol of respoect. Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina will be handing over these cheques during her visit to Delhi between 18- 20 December 2016.

    Important to mention here that a book will also be published which is based on contribution of the martyrs.
