    Which country became 206th member of Olympic movement - South Sudan

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 31st July 2015, South Sudan became the 206th member of the Olympic family. International Olympic Committee approved its inclusion of this African country.

    Marathon runner Guor Marial from South Sudan competed at the London 2012 Olympics under the Olympic flag after refusing to run for Sudan and with South Sudan not yet an IOC member at the time.

    Which company will acquire 49% stake in Essar Oil - Rosneft of Russia

    Among Important Business current Affairs, Oil Company of Russia named Rosneft signed agreement with Essar oil to acquire its 49 per cent. Both companies will also be doing exploration and production of hydrocarbon in concurrence. 

    Rosneft will get a stake in 1,600 retail chain stations of Essar Oil which it has planned to increase to 5000 within next two years. Also it will be delivering 100 million tonnes of crude oil over next ten years to Essar Oil.

    Broking firm Sharekhan will be acquired by - BNP Paribas

    Among Important Banking Current Affairs, Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) Paribas which is a French global financial services group will be acquiring retail brokerage firm Sharekhan. BNP Paribas a key player in retail brokerage and digital banking services that have over 1.7 million patrons in Europe is one of the largest bank in the world. By this acquiration it will expanding its presence to India.

    Sharekhan is India's second largest stock broker portal for online trading and stock marketing and has more than 575 branches in India. If we talk about online market trading then it has about 7 percent share with 1.2 million clients.

    Union govt announced Highway Projects worth - $93 Billion

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Government has rolled out projects worth USD 93 billion, including the USD 45 billion flagship road building programme NHDP. It has been rolled out by projecting it as unique opportunity for investments.

    To woo bidders, it said a "peep into opportunity" unfolds "20,000 kms of NHDP length with total investment of USD 45 billion over next three years."

    National Highways Building Project (NHDP) is government's flagship road building programme which envisages development of existing National Highways (NHs) into world-class roads in different phases.

    From which celebrity ban was lifted by MCA on entry to Wankehde Stadium - Shahrukh Khan

    On 2nd August 2015, Mumbai Cricket Association decided to lift the ban on Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan on entering Wankhede Stadium. Earlier He was banned from entering the stadium for five years after he was involved in an altercation with the security staff and officials of the cricket body.

    Though as per Shah Rukh Khan he did not misbehaved but only reacted after children were manhandled by security staff at the stadium.

    Who was elected as Chairman of apex body of insurers - LIC Chief S K Roy

    On 1st August 2015, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) chief S.K. Roy was elected as the chairman of the Life Insurance Council which is a apex industry body of insurers in the country. 

    He was elected after a poll conducted among all the 24 members of the council in Mumbai. Now he will be heading it for three years. Other three members of this executive committee are Tarun Chugh (PNB Met Life), Anup Rau (Reliance Life) and Sandeep Ghosh (Bharti AXA).
