    Institutional framework for National Skill Development Mission 2015 was approved by - Union Cabinet

    On 2nd July 2015, Union Cabinet approved the institutional framework for the National Skill Development Mission 2015 with an aim to provide strong institutional framework at the Centre and States for implementation of skilling activities in the country.

    Following are few important highlights of this program :

    • It will be having high powered decision making structure and will be three-tiered.
    • Its Governing Council will be chaired by the Prime Minister and will be proviging overall guidance and policy direction.
    • Steering Committee will be reviewing its activites.
    • This mission will be running select sub-missions in high priority areas.

    eMigrate system for Foreign Employers was launched by - India

    Online registration system named eMigrate system was launched by India for foreign employers (FEs). It is aimed for those employers who want to recruit Indian workers. FEs will have to register in eMigrate system at www.emigrate.gov.in.

    This scheme will allow FEs to their demand for Indian workers and seek a permit to recruit directly or select Recruiting Agents (RAs) in online manner.

    Following are few important Conditions : 

    FEs which are recruiting more than 150 Indian workers are required to register online with immediate effect, while FEs recruiting between 50-150 Indian workers are required to register online before 30 June 2015. In same way FEs recruiting between 20-50 Indian workers are required to register online before 31 July 2015 while FEs recruiting less than Indian workers are required to register online before 31 August 2015.

    Importance of Interleukin-21 protein was discovered by Scientists, in which disease it is useful - HIV-1 infection

    Recently Interleukin-21 (IL-21) protein was in news as Scientists discovered that it plays an important role in limiting replication of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) in infected humans as per a discovery published in an article titled IL-21 induces antiviral microRNA-29 in CD4 T cells to limit HIV-1 infection on 25 June 2015 in the Nature Communications journal.

    A postdoctoral associate at the Cornell Medical College in New York, USA, Stanley Adoro spearheaded this study.

    Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Ajay Ratra retired from all forms of - Cricket

    Among the Sports Current Affairs, On 2nd July 2015, Former Indian cricketers Hrishikesh Kantikar and Ajay Ratra got retried from all forms of Cricket. 

    Both have a short span in International cricket but have contributed in all formats viz. Test cricket, ODI and T20.

    Punjab ePMS portal was launched by - Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal

    On 2nd July 2015, Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal launched the state Portal ePMS (Electronic Projects Management System) with an aim to track fast track infrastructural development during Digital India week.

    It was launched with an aim to enhance efficiency, bring transparency, boost the investor confidence, revive the investment cycle, eliminate the human interaction and improve the communication between industries to Government (B2G), State to Centre (G2G), or vice versa (G2B).

    Cabinet Secretariat Informatics Division of National Informatics Centre (NIC) has developed this portal.

    K P P Nambiar passed away, He was founding chairman of - Keltron

    On 1st July 2015, K P P Nambiar passed away. He was 86 years old. He was founding Chairman of Keltron (Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited).

    K P P Nambiar started his career at Bharat Electronics and then worked with Texas Instruments in England and Tata in Mumbai. He was president of the World Malayalee Council.

    He was also honoured with Padma Bhushan award in 2006.

    Name of first country in the World to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV and Syphilis - Cuba

    Among International Current Affairs, On 30th June 2015, Cuba became first country in the world to eliminate mother-to-child (vertical) transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and syphilis. WHO ( World Health Organisation ) has issued validation in this regard on 30th June 2015.

    Cuba could achieve this remarkable feet with the strong integration of its Public Health’s HIV program with the maternal and child health program in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) of the WHO.

    Prototype of first Mars airplane was successfully flight tested by NASA, its name was - Prandtl-d

    On 30th June 2015, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) announced that it successfully flight tested Prandtl-d aircraft. It was a prototype of Prandtl-d aircraft which will be the first airplane to be launched on Mars between 2020 and 2024.
