    Which actor of bollywood won Top Honours at 63rd National Film Awards – Big B & Kangana

    Among Important National Current Affairs, On 3 May 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee conferred National film awards for the year 2015 in various categories at the 63rd National Film Awards Function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

    The President Pranab Mukherjee also conferred 2015 Dada Saheb Phalke Award to Manoj Kumar.

    Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor honour for his role of a hypochondriac father in Piku, whereas, Kangana Ranaut received the Best Actress Award for Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

    • This award was established in 1954, it has been administered, along with the International Film Festival of India and the Indian Panorama, by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973.

    World's smallest engine developed by - Scientists

    Among Important International Current Affairs, A group of researchers from University of Cambridge have built the world's smallest working engine. On 2 May 2016, the research was published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS).

    This engine is just a few billionths of a metre in size and uses light to power itself.

    However, the nanoscale engine could form the basis of future nano-machines that can navigate in water, sense the environment around them, or even enter living cells to fight disease.

    Know About Nanoscale Engine – 

    • The nanoscopic scale which is also known as nanoscale, usually refers to structures with a length scale applicable to nanotechnology, usually cited as 1–100 nanometers.

    • A nanometer is a billionth of a meter. The nanoscopic scale is a lower bound to the mesoscopic scale for most solids.

    India’s GDP to grow at 7.5% for - 2016-17

    Among Important National Current Affairs, IMF which is known as International Monetary Fund, in its April 2016 Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and the Pacific forecast retained India’s growth rate at 7.5 percent for the year 2016.

    According to the IMF report titled Regional Economic Outlook: Asia and Pacific, Building on Asia’s Strengths during Turbulent Times, this growth momentum is expected to be underpinned by private consumption, which has benefited from lower energy prices.

    It also said that India that had a GDP growth rate of 7.3 percent in 2015 will have 7.5 percent growth in 2016 and 2017.

    Who passes Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill, 2015 - Lok Sabha

    Under the public accounts of Centre and each State towards compensatory afforestation, the Lok Sabha passed the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill, 2015 for the establishment of funds.

    However, it also provides for additional afforestation and penal compensatory afforestation to regulate collected funds. 

    Do You Know -

    • The bill seeks to establish the National Compensatory Afforestation Fund under the Public Account of India, and a State Compensatory Afforestation Fund under the Public Account of each state. 

    • Also the payments into the funds include compensatory afforestation, net present value of forest (NPV), and any project specific payments.

    Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright claims to be - Bitcoin Creator

    Craig Wright, who is an Australian entrepreneur and computer scientist, has publicly identified himself as creator of virtual currency Bitcoin. 

    Craig Wright claimed that he is the real person behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin which was launched in 2009. 

    In 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto’s online cash system work was the key for creation of the online cash system, but he remained anonymous and his work has since stopped. 

    However, Craig Wright revealed his identity in order to stop the spread of misinformation about the virtual currency. He even sustained his claim by signing digital messages using cryptographic keys used during the early days of Bitcoin.

    Which player won the World Snooker Championship - Mark Selby

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, England's world number one Mark Selby won World Championship title of Snooker. 

    In Sheffield, where the final match played, Selby from Leicester defeated China’s Ding Junhui 18-14.

    After this win, Selby also ended Ding’s chance of being the first Asian player to win the world title.

    However, this was Selby’s second trophy of the year, earlier he had won minor Gdynia Open event in Poland.

    • An English professional snooker player Mark Anthony Selby is from Leicester. He is the reigning World Snooker Champion, having won the title for a second time in 2016, and is the current World No. 

    • In 1999, at the age of 16 Selby joined the main professional snooker tour. 

    • Selby after winning three Masters titles in 2008, 2010, and 2013, the UK Championship in 2012, and the World Championship in 2014, became the ninth player to win all of snooker's Triple Crown events at least once.
