    Which conference held in Amritsar, Punjab - 6th Heart of Asia

    Among Important National Current Affairs, the sixth edition of ‘Heart of Asia- Istanbul Process of Aghanistan‘ conference, an annual regional gathering of Asian and other countries was held in Amritsar, Punjab (India). 

    However, it was inaugurated jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. 

    Also it concluded with adaptation of Amritsar Declaration with its prime focus on terrorism.

    On 5th December which day is observed across the world - World Soil Day

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 5th December 2016 The World Soil Day (WSD) was observed at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome. 

    However, the theme for the day is “Soils and pulses, a symbiosis for life.”

    For this year 2016, the theme mainly focuses on the positive contributions of pulses to soil properties, which includes fixing the atmosphere nitrogen and improving its biodiversity, fertility and structure.

    Also, the observance of World Soil Day aims at connecting people with soils and raising awareness on their critical importance in lives of human beings. While on the other hand, 2016 was also declared as the International Year of Pulses (IYP).

    Who wins reader’s poll for the TIME Person of the Year 2016 - Narendra Modi

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the clear winner of online reader’s poll for the TIME ‘Person of the Year 2016’. 

    However, among the total votes cast about 18% went to Modi, which is almost two times more than the percentage of yes votes received by U.S President Barack Obama, US President-elect Donald Trump and Founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange, who all got 7% votes each. 

    Here, the results were calculated on the basis of votes received until the midnight of 4 December 2016.

    Who has been appointed as Interim Director of CBI - Rakesh Asthana

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 3rd December 2016 Senior IPS officer Rakesh Asthana has been appointed as the Interim Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). 

    However, he was given this additional charge by the Union Government following retirement of Anil Sinha.

    Please Note - This was the first time in last 10 years and second time in the CBI’s history that no new Director was named to succeed an incumbent.

    Which app has been launched to promote breastfeeding - Stanpan Suraksha

    Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram has launched the ‘Stanpan Suraksha’ mobile application with an aim to promote breastfeeding and keep a tab on “inappropriate” promotion of baby food items. 

    However, the mobile application has been developed by the Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI). 

    2016 Miss Supranational title won by - Srinidhi Shetty

    Among Important National Current Affairs, a girl from Mangalore whose name is Srinidhi Shetty was crowned as a Miss Supranational 2016 in the first week of December 2016. 

    However, she was crowned at a ceremony held in Krynica Zdroj, Poland. 

    Now, with this India became the first country to win Miss Supranational twice in three years.

    • Srinidhi Shetty who is an engineer by profession along with the crown also received the prize amount of $30,000. 

    • Here, in addition to this she also won the title of Miss Asia-Oceania.
