    First aircraft carrier of India INS Vikrant sold for 60 crore rupees

    First aircraft carrier of India INS Vikrant which was earlier decommissioned has been sold for Rs 60 crore. It played an important role in the 1971 Indo Pak war. It was sold by a Bid in which IB Commercial Pvt Ltd won the bid.

    It was commissioned in 1961 and was decommissioned in January 1997. 

    Important to note : 

    In January 2014, during the hearing of a public interest litigation which opposed the plan to scrap the ship, the Union ministry of defence told the Bombay high court that it had completed its operational life. 

    Third WTA title at the Family Circle Cup won by Andrea Petkovic

    Third WTA title at the Family Circle Cup won by Andrea Petkovic. Andrea Petkovic is a player of Germany. She won the title after defeating Jana Cepelova of Slovakia in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.

    Andrea Petkovic last won in Strasbourg in 2011 and won her first title in 2009 in Bad Gastein.

    Ernesto Gainza set a new Guinness record of skydiving using smallest parachute

    On 7th April 2014, member from the Skydive Dubai parachute team of United Arab Emirates Mr Ernesto Gainza set a new Guinness record for skydiving using the world's smallest parachute. Ernesto Gainza jumped from 14000 feet with a canopy the size of a bed sheet(parachute of only 35 square feet).  

    It took him three and a half minutes, at Skydive Dubai.

    Viktor Orban re elected as Prime Minister of Hungary

    Viktor Orban was re elected as Prime Minister of Hungary for the second consecutive four year term. The General parliamentary elections were held on 6th April 2014 and the results were announced on 8th April 2014. Viktor Orban's Fidesz party won 133 of 199 parliament seats.

    Important to note : 

    The Republic of Hungary is a parliamentary democracy, where parliamentary elections are held every four years.
