    SSC CGL Syllabus 2014 - 2015 - Syllabus for Tier I

    Tier 1 of SSC CGL will consist of four parts :

     

    1.  General Intelligence and Reasoning : 

    General Intelligence and Reasoning for SSC CGL include questions of both verbal and non verbal type. This may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern -folding & un-folding, Figural Pattern - folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence etc.

    2. General Awareness : 

    General Awareness for SSC CGL is also a scoring section if we prepare it well. Following are few points you should read before preparing for SSC CGL :

    N.C.E.R.T. books of 9th and 10th are very useful for this section.

    Important Topics which are included in this section are : 

    INDIAN CONSTITUTION : 

    This is the most scoring topic in this section. You must do it thoroughly. You can go for N.C.E.R.T of elementary classes or 10th . This topic has some tricky areas for which you should be strong in your concepts and have enough practice. Just go for some tricky areas like powers of the PRESIDENT, GOVERNOR, JURISDICTION OF SUPREME COURTS, EMERGENCY, Important Articles and Ammendments of Constitution etc.

    GENERAL SCIENCE : 

    You should prepare well for general science and should understand the questions rather than cramming them. You can prepare for BIOLOGY for SSC CGL, CHEMISTRY for SSC CGL, PHYSICS for SSC CGL etc.

    HISTORY: 

    This topic in General Awareness for SSC CGL has most vast syllabus to be covered. You need to know INDIA'S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM and other history topics. One can go for 9th ,10th N.C.E.R.T. Read Indian History Questions Answers and World History Questions Answers.

    GEOGRAPHY: 

    Basic GEOGRAPHY for SSC CGL is also a important part of General Awareness.

    ECONOMICS:  

    It covers both micro and macro economics in addition to government policies and five year plans. If you are from commerce stream read both subtopics from 10+2 level N.C.E.R.T. If you are not commerce stream just read macro economics. 

    OTHERS: 

    Apart from above Data of census, environmental issues and current affairs can be studied.

    3. General English for SSC CGL : 

    In this section ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability etc. would be tested. This is very important section to Score well. We can prepare Verbal Ability, One word Substitution etc.

    4. Quantitative Aptitude for SSC CGL : 

    Quantitative Aptitude test will include computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons , Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart etc. Apart from this Data Interpretation Questions Answers are also very scoring.

    SSC CGL Syllabus 2014 - 2015 - Syllabus for Tier II

    SSC CGL Syllabus 2014 - 2015 for Tier II includes following topics : 

    • Quantitative Ability - 100 Questions (200 marks)
    • English Language & Comprehsion - 100 Questions (200 marks)
    • Mathematics/ Statistics/ Economics/ Commerce (for Compiler/ Statistical/ Investigators posts) - 100 Questions (200 marks)

     1. Quantitative Ability :

    Quantitative Ability for Tier II includes same topics as of Tier I but the difficulty level may a bit higher.

    Spot the error, Questions on filling blanks, Synonyms and antonyms, Spelling error detection,  Shuffling of sentence parts,  Comprehension passages, Idioms & phrases, One word substitution, Sentence improvement, Active & passive voices, Narration etc

    3. Statistics for Investigator Grade-II, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation & Compiler in RGI.

    Moments, Skewness and Kurtosis, Correlation and Regression. Collection Classification and Presentation of Statistical Data, Measures of Central Tendency. Measures of Dispersion, Probability Theory, Time Series Analysis. Index Numbers, Random Variable and Probability Distributions. Sampling Theory, Analysis of Variance, Statistical Inference.

    SSC CGL Syllabus 2014 - 2015 - Syllabus for Tier III

    • Marks for Interview cum Personality Test – 100 marks.

    Skill Test is conducted for tax assistant posts in Central Excise & Income Tax. CPT is conducted for Assistants in CSS.

    Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): speed of data entry must be 8,000 Key Depression/hr. on Computer.

    Data Entry Speed Skill Test at 2000 key depressions in 15 min will be tested and candidates will have to qualify it as it will be of qualifying nature.
