    $100 million missile kit order bagged by - Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems

    Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Ltd has secured $100 million order from Israel’s Rafael for producing 1000 Barak-8 Medium-Range, Surface-to-Air Missile Missile kits for Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
    Significant Highlights
    Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Ltd devices to progress these systems at centre situated near international airport, Hyderabad, Telangana. These systems would be manufactured over next four years and then be supplied to India’s state-run defence manufacturer Bharat Dynamics Ltd for further integration.
    Rafael’s association with Indian defence industry has resulted to investment of above $250 million over the years as a part of Make-in-India initiative.

      dedicated to operational readiness of Indian Army and Indian Air Force.
    • Kalyani group outlines to develop second producing facility on a 100 acres site in Telangana to
      augment its production capability, primarily to serve India and also to operate as an export facility for friendly neighbouring nations.
    • Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Ltd unit is an advanced production unit which offers
      engineering services and extended life-cycle support for systems that are delivered to Indian
      defence forces.
    • Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Ltd unit was formed in August 2017. It has now bagged $100 million order and has been exporting defence systems and accomplished business of $15 million in 2018. It assumes to clock nearly $30 million by 2019.

    India to be ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 host nation from - 9th February -26th March 2019

    India will be the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup 2023 host nation. This will be the 1st time that India is hosting the cricket playing event on its own. India had co-hosted the World Cup with its neighbouring nations in all the 3 earlier events.
    India will be hosting the 13th edition of the men's Cricket World Cup which was finalised at an ICC meeting held in London. India has co-hosted the World Cup 3 times in the past, 1987 with Pakistan, in 1996 with Pakistan and Sri Lanka and in 2011 with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. 
    The International Cricket Council’s World Cup 2023 will be organised in India from February 9th- March 26th, 2023. The World Cup 2023 will also witness participation from Ten teams. The top seven positioned teams will inevitably qualify for the World Cup along with hosts India, while the lasting 2 teams will make their place in the playing event by qualifying via the world cup qualifier round.

    Merger of 3 General Insurance Firms including National Insurance, United India and Oriental India announced by - Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs

    Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur freshly knowledge the Lok Sabha
    that 3 public-sector General Insurance Firms, including, National Insurance Company Limited,
    United India Assurance Company Limited and Oriental India Insurance Company Limited will soon
    be merged into a solo insurance entity. The initiative was declared by Finance Minister Nirmala
    Sitharaman in her maiden Budget 2019-20 speech, suggesting to improve the General Insurance
    Business (Nationalisation) Act, 1972 to enable the fusion of non-life insurance firms.
    The Finance Bill, declared alongside the Budget 2019-20, suggested to replace the “there will be 4
    firms” statement of a 1972 act section with “there will up to four firms”.
    Facts and Figures of merged insurance entity

    • The 3 firms including National Insurance, United India Assurance and Oriental India Insurance
      together had more than 200 insurance products with a sum premium of Rupees 41461 crore.
    • The collective net worth of these 3 firms is Rupees 9243 crore.
    • The over-all employee strength is more than 44000 and total number of offices is 6000.
      These 3 firms responsible for total market share of about 35%.
    • The National Insurance Company Limited, United India Assurance Company Limited and Oriental India Insurance Company Limited had previously designated Ernst and Young as a consultant for their merger. Ernst and Young has been planned to carry-out the merger in a combined way.
    • Ernst and Young is supposed to advice on organisational restructuring, management of operational matters, rationalisation of human resources, and other concerned matters.

    Kalraj Mishra designated Himachal Pradesh Governor on - 15th July 2019

    Senior Bhartiya Janta Party leader Kalraj Mishra was designated as Governor of Himachal Pradesh on July 15th, 2019. He replaced Acharya Devvrat who has been transferred and designated as Governor of Gujarat. A press release published by Rashtrapati Bhavan informed that appointments of Mr. Mishra and Mr. Devvrat will be effective from the dates they accept charge of their respective offices.
    Kalraj Mishra had resigned from the Narendra Modi-headed government as Minister for Micro,
    Small and Medium Enterprises in 2017 after he surpassed the age of 75. He had not fought last Lok
    Sabha elections.
    Acharya Devvrat was designated as Governor of HP in year 2015, he will replace retiring office
    holder O.P.Kohli. O.P.Kohli was designated Governor of Gujarat, replaced Margaret Alva, on July
    16th, 2014. He has finished his 5-year term on July 15th, 2019.

    Mohammad Anas, Hima Das secures Gold Medal  in - Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet

    India’s Mohammad Anas secured Gold Medal in men’s 400 meters with an effort of 45.21s and Hima
    Das secured Gold Medal in women’s 200 meters event at Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet at
    Kladno, Czech Republic. This is Hima Das 3rd international victory in 11 days.
    Key Highlight

    • Mohammad Anas progressed his own national record in men’s 400 meters race. His previous
      national record time stood at 45.24s which he recorded in 2018. The 24 years old Anas completed
      nearly 1second ahead of silver winner Omelko Rafal with 46.19s of Poland.
    • Hima Das clocked a much-improved time of 23.43s to secure Gold Medal while she has personal best of 23.10s in 200 metres. This was her 3rd international Gold Medal within last two weeks.
    • She secured other 2 Gold Medal in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland and at the Kutno Athletics Meet, Poland.
    • V K Vismaya clocked her personal best of 52.54s to secure the ‘A’ race in women’s 400 meters.

    Indian trio Vipin Kasana with 82.51 meters, Abhishek Singh with 77.32 meters and Davinder Singh
    Kang with 76.58 meters took top 3 positions in men’s javelin final respectively.
    In Men’s Shot-Put event, national record holder Tejinder Pal Singh Toor accomplished best throw
    of 20.36 meters to secure bronze. He grabs national record of 20.75 meters.
    Saritaben stood 3rd with 53.37s.

    Simona Halep of Romania defeats Serena Williams of USA with 6-2, 6-2 in final to secure Women’s Singles Wimbledon Title 2019. She dispatched 7 times Wimbledon Champion Serena Williams in just 56 minutes to grab her 1st Wimbledon and 2nd Major title.

    • Simona Halep is now 1st Romanian to secure singles crown at SW19 i.e. South-West London 19
      of Wimbledon tennis club. Earlier, mercurial Ilie Nastase was a 2-time finalist in 1972 and 1976.
