    Who announced formation of political party named Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance - Human rights activist Irom Sharmila

    Among Important National and Political Current Affairs, On 18th October 2016, Human rights activist Irom Sharmila announced the formation of new political party and named it Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA).
    Important to mention here that Irom Sharmila is also known as Iron lady of Manipur as she was on nearly 16 years hunder strike. Her demand was to revoke Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the state.

    Which company was given licence to set up petrol pumps in India - BP Plc

    Among Business and Economy Current Affairs, BP Plc was granted licence by Union Government to set up 3500 petrol pumps in India, as it was given licence to market Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel. After getting this licence BP is 10th Company in India in fuel retailing sector.

    India inked 3 MoU's with which country - Myanmar

    On 19th October 2016, India inked three MoU's with Myanmar to boost mutual relations. These MoU's were inked on during the three day visit of State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi.
    Important Points of these MoU's are :
    1. MoU was inked between Financial Regulatory Department of Myanmar and Insurance Institute of India to design and build an insurance industry of Myanmar.
    2. MoU on Cooeration in field of Power Sector as India will enhance power supply to Myanmar.
    3. MoU on banking was inked as there will banking supervision between RBI and Central Bank of Myanmar.

    Indian Navy commissions - INS Tihayu

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Indian Navy has commissioned INS Tihayu, a Car Nicobar Class water jet fast attack craft (WJFAC). 

    However, it was commissioned by the Flag-Officer-Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral H.C.S. Bisht in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

    Know About INS Tahiyu – 

    • INS Tahiyu is known to be the sixth WJFAC Car Nicobar Class vessel to be commissioned and allotted to the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy. 

    • INS Tahiyu has been built by Kolkata-based shipyard Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE).

    Which player is appointed as a member of IOC’s Athletes’ Commission - Saina Nehwal

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, an Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has been appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Athletes’ Commission. 

    However, it is rare honour for an Indian sportsperson. Also in this regard, Saina has received a letter to the effect from the IOC President Thomas Bach mentioning that she has been appointed in consultation with Chair of Athletes’ Commission. 

    The Athletes’ Commission of IOC is chaired by Angela Ruggiero. It also comprises nine vice presidents and 10 other members.

    Who has been elected as a new President of North Zone of Urology Society of India - S P Yadav

    On 18th October 2016, S P Yadav has been elected as a new President of the North Zone of Urology Society of India (NZUSI). 

    However, his tenure would begin from October 2017 for a period of one year.

    The announcement was made at the conclusion of a three-day annual conference, which is held under the auspices of the Agra Urology Association from 16th October to 18th October 2016.
