    On 1st December which day was observed across the world - World AIDS Day 

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 1st December 2016 The World AIDS Day was observed across the world. The main theme of this day is Hands up for #HIVprevention.

    However, the campaign #HIVprevention explores different aspects of HIV prevention and how they relate to specific groups of people, such as adolescent girls and young women, key populations and people living with HIV.

    Also on the 2016 World AIDS Day, on 30th November the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) hosted a special event to commemorate the day and to reinforce the commitment to move forward together to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Union Cabinet approves inclusion of 15 new castes in - Central OBC List

    Among Important National Current Affairs, the Union Cabinet has given its approval for inclusion of 15 new castes and modification in 13 other castes in the Central list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in respect of 8 states. 

    However, these states are Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand. 

    Please Note - The Union Cabinet has taken this decision based on the recommendation of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).

    UNESCO adds Cuban rumba and Belgian beer to list of - World’s Intangible Heritage

    Among Important International Current Affairs on 30th November 2016 The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) added Cuba’s rumba dance and Belgian beer to its coveted list of “intangible” heritage.

    However, in addition the UN body also included Portuguese pottery and Ugandan traditional music into the list at the meeting in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. The Cuban delegation dedicated the rumba’s selection to Fidel Castro, who passed away recently.

    Union Government formed which committee to promote digital economy - Chandrababu Naidu Committee

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 30th November 2016 NITI Aayog which is under the banner of the Union Government constituted a 13-member committee to promote cashless economy. This committee will be headed by Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu.

    However, the committee will be formed by Chief Ministers of various states representing different political parties to examine and promote the use of digital payment systems across the country.

    Drones help assess land problems in - North East

    Among Important National Current Affairs, NE-SAC which means North-Eastern Space Applications Centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to collect land details of areas that have been damaged by natural disasters.  

    On 1st November, 2016 the space agency which is based in Shillong, conducted the first drone test. 

    However, it will be solely designing and assembling all the UAVS and the data collected from the survey will be added to that of ISRO’s remote sensing satellites.
