    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 27th February 2016, the first Asian to win the award for Best Sound was Famous sound designer Resul Pookutty for documentary India’s Daughter at the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ (MPSE) 63rd annual Golden Reel Awards.

    About Resul Pookutty

    • He made his debut in sound design with the 1997 film Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One.
    • In 2009, he won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing for Slumdog Millionaire along with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke.

    Among the important Business Current Affairs, On 28th February 2016, UltraTech Cement Limited acquired cement units of Jaiprakash Associates Limited for an enterprise value of 16500 crore rupees.

    The plant which is acquired have a cement capacity of 22.4 mtpa located in the states of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Anadhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

    The deal also states that, UltraTech will pay an additional 470 crore rupees for completion of the grinding unit for 4 mtpa capacity.

    Name the committee constituted to consider ST status to six communities of Assam - Mahesh Kumar Singla committee

    On 29th February 2016, a committee to consider Scheduled Tribe status to six Communities of Assam was contituted by Union Government. Mahesh Kumar Singla, Special Secretary (Internal Security) Ministry of Home Affairs, will be the head of the committee.

    The responsibility of the committee is to recommend the procedure for granting of Scheduled Tribe status to six Communities namely Adivasi (Tea Tribes), Moran, Koch Rajbongshi, Chutia, Tai Ahom and Matak in Assam.

    The ACI, a trade association of the world's airports founded in 1991, announced the ranking for the 2015 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards.

    IGI airport, Delhi has retained the world's 1st position for the second consecutive year in 25 to 40 Million Passengers Per Annum category. The two other awards are for second best airport by region (Asia Pacific) and best airport by size & region Asia Pacific (25-40 MPPA).

    IGIA is managed by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) -- a joint venture between the Fraport, GMR Group and Airports Authority of India (AAI).

    Who has won first ever auction of an Indian gold mine - Vedanta Limited

    Among the important Business Current Affairs, On 27th February 2016, the nation’s first-ever gold mining lease auctioned by the Chhattisgarh Government was won by Vedanta Limited. The Baghmara (Sonakhan) gold mine with its highest bid of 12.55 percent of Indian Bureau of Mining (IBM) price of 74712 rupees/ troy ounce has been acquired by the company.

    Vedanta will get the composite license that includes prospecting as well as cum-mining lease.

    The auction will yield 82 crore rupees to the state exchequer in addition to the royalty of 25 crore rupees.

    The mine is is one of the oldest explored deposits of the precious metal in Central India, situated in Balodabazaar-Bhatapara district of Chhattisgarh, 130 km north-east of the state capital Raipur. 

    The companies that participated in the auction were : Krishna Global Minerals Ltd, Vedanta Limited, Sainik Mining and Allied Services Ltd and Rungta Mines Ltd.

    Who has took charge as Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission - Justice HL Dattu 

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 29th February 2016, Former Chief Justice of India Justice Handyala Lakshminarayanaswamy Dattu took charge as the 7th Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of India.  

    On 28 September 2014, he became the 42nd Chief Justice of India.
