    11th tranche of Electoral Bonds sale to start from -  1st July 2019

    Union Ministry of Finance freshly declared the release of 11th tranche of electoral bonds sale starting from 1st-10th July. This is first release of electoral bonds following conclusion of 17th general elections and formation of new government.
    Electoral Bonds

    • Electoral bonds are being inclined as an alternative to cash donations done in favour of
      political parties in a bid to have transparency in political funding.
    • The government advised the Electoral Bond Scheme in January 2018. According to the
      scheme, electoral bonds may be bought by a person who is a resident of India/an entity
      merged/recognized in India. A person can purchase electoral bonds, either single/mutually/with other entities.
    • SBI is the only permitted bank to release electoral bonds. In XI-phase of electoral bonds
      sale, State Bank of India has been permitted to release and encash electoral bonds via its 29
      sanctioned branches starting from 1st to 10th July.
    • Those registered political parties, that won not below 1 percent of votes polled in former
      election of legislative assembly, will be qualified to get electoral bonds.
    • Validity Electoral bonds are legal for 15 calendar days from date of issuance and no payment is done to any payee political party if bonds are submitted after termination of validity period. Electoral bond submitted by an entitled political party in its account, will be accredited on very same day.

    Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2019 passed by - Parliamenet

    Parliament has approved Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2019 to permit trusts to
    launch units in Special Economic Zone. It was 1st legislation to be approved by freshly-formed
    17th  Lok Sabha . It replaces Special Economic Zone (Amendment) Ordinance 2019 propagated
    March 2019 and amends Special Economic Zone Act 2005.
    Salient features of Bill

    • It redefines definition of ‘person’ under Section 2(v) of the Special Economic Zone Act 2005 to
      contain ‘trusts’. Apart from trusts, it also contains any entity that central government may advise
      from time to time in the definition of “person”.

    • The proposal for founding of Special Economic Zone can be done by any ‘person’. Presently,
      person under Section 2(v) of the Special Economic Zone Act 2005 is defined as person, whether
      resident in India/outside India, Hindu undivided family, cooperative society/company, proprietary,
      firm, concern/connotation of persons, whether combined or not, local authority and any agency,
      office owned by such person.

    Fastest batsman to reach 20000 international scores is - Virat Kohli

    India skipper Virat Kohli became fastest batsman to complete 20000 international scores, across
    formats. He attained this milestone in only his 417th international matches including 131 in Tests,
    223 in One-Day Internationals and 62 in T20Is formats, surpassing earlier record grabbed by Sachin
    Tendulkar and Brian Lara. Both Tendulkar and Lara scored 20000 international scores in 453 innings.
    Kohli now became overall 12th batsman and 3rd Indian following Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid
    to complete 20000 international scores.
    Sachin Tendulkar leads scores charts in One-Day International and Tests with 18426 and 15921
    scores respectively. Rahul Dravid has scored 10889 and 13288 scores in One-Day Internationals and
    Tests, respectively.
    Kohli’s Recent Records

    • He is fastest batsman to score 11000 One-Day International scores and attained this feat freshly on June 16th, 2019, during ICC World Cup 2019 between India and Pakistan in England.
    • He has scored  6613 scores in Tests and 2263 scores in T20Is so far.
    • He also had scored his 4th successive half-century that made him only 3rd captain in the history of
      World Cup to register 4 consecutive 50-plus scores.
    • The other skippers to achieve the feat are Graeme Smith in 2007 and Aaron Finch in 2019.

    Sharad Kumar Saraf elected FIEO’s new President after -  Ganesh Kumar Gupta

    Exporters body Federation of Indian Export Organisations has nominated Sharad Kumar Saraf as
    its new president. Saraf will succeed renowned exporter Ganesh Kumar Gupta.

    • Saraf in his earlier periods at Federation of Indian Export Organisations has worked twice as vice-
      president and 4 times as regional chairman west region. He is also chairman and originator of
      Technocraft Industries (India).
    • Saraf during his earlier period as vice-president and regional chairman recognized Indian Exporters
      Grievance Forum that assists towards addressing exporters’ complaints via legal channel.

      Commerce and private trade and industry.
