    World Maritime Day observed with theme - Shipping: Indispensable to the World

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 29th September 2016 World Maritime Day was observed across the world with the theme - shipping: indispensable to the world.

    However, this theme was chosen to focus on the critical link between shipping and global society and also to raise awareness of the relevance of the role of International Maritime Organization (IMO) as the global regulatory body for international shipping. 

    Here, the importance of shipping to support and sustain today's global society gives IMO's work a significance that reaches far beyond the industry itself.

    Union Cabinet approves ratification of the - Paris Agreement 

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 2nd October 2016 The Union Cabinet has given its green signal to ratify the Paris Agreement (on Climate Change) on Gandhi Jayanti. 

    However, in December 2015 The Paris Agreement was adopted by 185 nations. 

    In April 2016 only, India had signed the agreement in New York. So far, 191 countries have signed this agreement.

    Including India how many SAARC member countries decided to boycott the Summit in Islamabad – Four

    Among Important International Current Affairs, four SAARC member countries, namely India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan, have decided to boycott the 19th SAARC Summit to be hosted by Pakistan. 

    However, the summit is scheduled to be held in Islamabad from 9 to 10 November 2016.

    Here, India was the first nation to boycott the summit. Also it conveyed to current SAARC Chair Nepal that increased cross-border terrorist attacks in the region and growing interference in internal affairs of member states by one country created environment which is not conducive to successful holding of Summit.

    After India, who was joined by Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan have pulled out of the summit by citing the problem of terrorism in the region.

    Indian Army conducts surgical strikes across - Line of Control

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Indian Army who conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control.

    According to the Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh – ‘the motive of the operation was to hit out at the terrorists who were planning to infiltrate into the Indian Territory.’

    However, Lt General Singh also informed that significant casualty was caused to terrorists during the operation. 

    Here, He also said that it is a matter of serious concern that there have been many infiltration bids by terrorists at LoC and it was reflected in the terror attacks in Poonch and Uri on 11 September and 18 September 2016.

    Which former Australian cricketer passes away recently - Max Walker

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 28th September 2016 the former Australian cricketer Max Walker passed away at the age of 68 at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. 

    However, Max Walker was famous for his unconventional bowling action that earned him the nickname Tangles.

    Know About Max Walker – 

    • Max Walker, who is known as Maxwell Henry Norman Walker was an Australian cricketer and Australian Rules football player.

    • It was the year 1973; Max Walker earned a place in the Australian cricket team and also represented his country in the sport until injury ended his career in 1981.

    • Although, following his retirement Max Walker also worked as an architect and also commenced a career in radio and television media.

    World’s first three-parent baby born in – Mexico

    Among Important International Current Affairs, The world’s first three-parent baby boy, who was born in Mexico to a Jordanian couple with the help a controversial new fertility technique that incorporates DNA from three people in the embryo. 

    However, this ‘three-parent’ technique is also known as mitochondrial donation (Mitochondrial Replacement Therapy) allows parents with rare genetic mutations to have healthy babies.
