    Who has been appointed as DGP of Karnataka -  Rupak Kumar Dutta

    Rupak Kumar Dutta was appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnatakaon 31 January 2017. He will serve the post for 9 months as he will be retiring in Oct 2017. Mr. Dutta was serving as Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Union Ministry of Home Affairsin Centre.

    Mr. Dutta is a 1981-batch IPS officer from the Karnataka cadre.

    He led several corruption related investigations involving some senior BJP Politicians between 2008 and 2013.

    He also served multiple stints in CBIas a Special Director and Additional Director.

    Who has been appointed as MD-India of BAE Systems on 1st Feb 2017 - Nik Khanna

    BAE systems appoints Nik Khanna as a Managing Director to handle India Operations on 1st Feb 2017.He was a Country President at Raytheon where he took care of business development, marketing and strategy in India for the last four years. And before Raytheon, he worked as an Associate Vice-President at The Cohen Group. He also worked as Aerospace & Defense Director at the U.S-India Business Council.

    Asim Basu passed away, he was an - Eminent theatre personality

    On 1st February 2017, Asim Basu, an eminent theatre personality, writer artist and painter passed away due to prolonged illness in Bhubaneswar. He was 82 at the time of death.

    • His family members were against his painting career, so he left his home at a very early age to learn paintings from Kolkata.
    • His popular art-direction in films like Agni Sanketa (Odia) and Shodh (Hindi) were really commendable.
    • Hewas awarded with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1998.
    • Basu was selected for Dharmapada Award for the year 2010, which he never received.Basu was awarded with Parampara Samman in 2012.

    Where did 19th Bharat Rang Mahotsav begin - New Delhi

    The 19th Bharat Rang Mahotsav or International Theatre Festival of India started on 1 February 2017 in New Delhi. The 21-day festival will conclude on 21 February 2017. It focuses on the different genres of Indian theatre.The events will be held at Abhimanch, Open Air Theatre, Bahumukh and Sammukh at the National School of Drama Campus, further performances will also be held at LTG Auditorium, Kamani Auditorium and Shri Centre for Performing Arts at Mandi House.

    Artists from 12 foreign countries including England, Russia, Israel, Turkey, Italy, Tajikistan, Romania, Afghanistan and others will give their performances. There will be 94 theatre performances and 15 foreign productions.It will also include 10 traditional folk theatre performances.

    This festival was established in 1999 and celebrated annually. It was originally founded to show case works of Indian theatre artists, it has grown over the year to attract international performers as well.

    Which country aims to Launch Its First Ever Mars Mission in 2020 - UAE

    The United Arab Emirates is planning to launch an unmanned orbiter called 'Hope' from Japan's space center to Mars in July 2020. It's first-ever Mars mission from an Arab Country. Japan's Aerospace Exploration Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will be fulfilling the responsibility of launching the orbiter.

    • It is designed to be a compact, hexagonal-section spacecraft.
    • The weight will be 1500kg approximately including fuel.
    • It will be equipped with advanced software that will be capable of guiding it into the Mars orbit without the need of any human assistance from the Earth.
    • It will be carrying an imager, an infra-Red spectrometer, an ultraviolet spectrometer for its mission to study the Martian atmosphere.

    Who will collaborate with UN for a music album - Neeti Mohan

    Neeti Mohan has become the first Indian female singer to collaborate with the United Nations on a project focusing on empowering women, ending human trafficking and promoting gender equality.

    Her composition called ‘Udne de’, which was created as a tribute to all women and in support of gender equality, has been selected to be a part of an album for the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund project.

    • The project titled ‘Music to Inspire-Artists united against Human Trafficking’ aims to make a social statement to end human trafficking.

    • Some of the names in the project are Nicholas Cage, Tatyana Ali, Ashton Kutcher, Ellis Hall, Ashley Judd, Demi Moore and Gillian Anderson.

    • This collection will be officially launched at an event that will be organized at the headquarters of the United Nation in New York City by this weekend.

    Neeti stated on her collaboration that she had written her track ‘Udne de’ after the shocking and unfortunate Nirbhaya incident in 2012. She added by saying that crime against women has become a global issue now and so, she wanted to take a stand related this issue on a global level.
