    Anushka Sharma named PETA's Person of the Year 2017 award bagged by - Anushka Sharma

    Famous Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was awarded with the People for the Ethical Treatment of
    Animals-PETA 2017 Person of the Year Award.
    The actress was decorated with the award for her wide-reaching efforts for animals, from helping to safeguard dogs from fireworks to supporting the horses who are laboured to pull carriages in Mumbai.
    Talking on this, the Associate Director of PETA, Sachin Bangera informed that Anushka Sharma is a proud animal rights promoter, whose kindness and efforts know no bounds.
    He further informed that PETA is calling on everybody to follow her guidance by eating healthy vegetarian meals, supporting community animals by raising your voice up when they are suffering, and always suggesting and trying out for new ideas to help animals.This is not the 1st time Anushka has been nominated in the PETA celebrity list. She was nominated PETA’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity in year 2015.
    Following are some of Anushka’s recent efforts to protect animals:

    • Launching of her free of cruelty NUSH clothing range.
    • Visiting animal shelters and encouraging its efforts on her social media platforms.
    • Initiating a campaign called PAWsitive to spread awareness for the fireworks effects to the animals.
    • Using social media website, Twitter, to demand a restriction on cruel carriages in Mumbai, where horses are laboured to pull passengers in every weather without giving them adequate rest, food or water.
    • Other actors who received the PETA's Person of the Year Award in the last few years were Kapil Sharma, Hema Malini, R Madhavan and Jacqueline Fernandez.

    India and Pakistan exchange list of nuclear sites for 27th consecutive year on - 1st January 2018

    India and Pakistan have interchanged list of their nuclear fittings and possibilities with each other under
    the Accordance on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear installations. This is the consecutive 27th
    interchange of such lists between 2 nations after 1st list was interchanged on 1st January 1992.

    Allied Health Professionals Database Portal launched by - Union Government

    Preeti Sudan, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Ministry launched the Allied and Healthcare Professionals’ database portal to ensure better systems and frameworks on 1st January 2018 for the healthcare workforce in the country. The link to the website is given as a2hp.mohfw.gov.in.

    Important Highlights

    • Over 3000 professionals have already registered on the portal during the testing phase.
    • The portal has a capacity of capturing more than 10 lakhs Allied and Healthcare Professionals’ data.
    • It will be helping the Government to track the number of professionals and streams of allied and healthcare professions in the country.
    • It will be helpful to accelerate the envisaged processes such as professionals licensing, workforce policy planning and to bring transparency in the system by maintaining educational standards and clinical practice etc.
    • This portal is a provisional measure taken by the Ministry to track and reach out to all the allied and health care professionals in India.

    Saudi Arabia and UAE introduced VAT for First Time from - 1st January 2018

    Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates launched value-added tax. These are the first 2 nations in the Gulf which have launched the VAT system. The 5% levy is being laid to the majority of goods and services. The UAE evaluates that in the 1st year, VAT income will be approximately 12 billion dirhams. Petrol and diesel, food, clothes, utility bills and hotel rooms all now have VAT applicable.

    Indian Golfer Shiv Kapur won Royal Cup at Pattaya on - 31st December 2017

    Indian golfer Shiv Kapur grabbed the Royal Cup at Pattaya, which is his 3rd Asian Tour title of 2017.
    The 35 years old Kapur, who had only a single victory in almost eleven years till April 2017, now won 3
    times in last 8 months. This fresh victory marks Kapur’s 4th Asian Tour victory and 6th international title as he won two-times on European Challenge Tour.

    India Hosting 10 ASEAN Leaders on - 26th January 2018  

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the coming Republic Day celebration in 2018 would

    would be presenting leaders of Ten ASEAN nations as chief guests on the coming 26th January 2018.
