    Subsidised power scheme 'Sambal' launched by - MP government

    On 3rd July 2018, Madhya Pradesh state government launched subsidised power scheme called 'Sambal'. This scheme is focused on labourers and poor families. All families below poverty line would be given electricity at a cost of Rs 200 per month, So all people can avail power facility in the state. Also free power connections will be given to people of this category. It is expected to benefit 88 lakh families.

    Lieutenant Governor bound by "aid and advice" of elected Delhi Government - Supreme Court

    On 4th July 2018, A five judge Supreme Court bench unanimously held that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi is bound by the "aid and advice" of a elected government. Court said that both have to work harmoniously with each other.

    Five judges bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A.K. Sikri, D.Y. Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and A.M. Khanwilkar. Bench said that except for issues of Public order, police and land, the Lieutenant Governor is bound by the aid and advice of the Delhi government, as Government has mandate of People.

    Bench said that Delhi Government only needs to inform its well-deliberated decisions to the LG. The government need not obtain his approval in every issue.

    Khan Prahari app launhed by - Union Minister Piyush Goyal

    On 4th July 2018, Union Minister of Coal, Railways, Finance & Corporate Affairs, Piyush Goyal launched Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS) and Mobile Application "Khan Prahari".
    This app has been developed by CMPDI ( Ranchi ) and Bhaskarcharya Institute of Space Application and Geo-informatics (BISAG).

    CMSMS has been developed with an aim to monitor all coal mining activities so any unauthorised activity can be reported. For any complaint an alert will go to District Magistrate and SP of the district. Using Khan Prahari App any one can upload geo tagged photographs with text directly to the system and then Nodal officers will take suitable action on reported issue.

    In which state of India, Animals conferred with the status of legal entity/ legal person - Uttarakhand

    On 4th July 2018, Uttarakhand High Court accorded the status of legal entity / legal person to the animals of Uttarakhand state. Uttarakhand High Court bench comprising Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Lokpal Singh said that to protect and promote the greater welfare of animals including avian and aquatic, animals are required to be conferred with the status of legal entity/ legal person.

    Important to mention here that this order is also for avian and aquatic animals. Court declared all citizens of state as guardians of the animals, so its their duty to ensure welfare of animals. Court also said that all animal drawn carriages have to be given "Right of Way" over other vehicles.
