    Joint Statement of Australia-India Cyber Policy Dialogue held on - 13th July 2017

    The second Australia-India Cyber Policy Dialogue was held on 13th July 2017 in Canberra.
    The Dialogue was held in a spirit of openness, collaboration and common purpose to strengthen cooperation on cyber issues.
    During the dialogue both the countries, namely India and Australia, reaffirmed their commitment to an open, free, secure, peaceful and accessible cyberspace enabling innovation and economic growth plus reiterated their support for the multi-stakeholder
    approach to internet governance. Both the countries are also agreed on bilateral Cyber Policy Dialogue provided a strong foundation for existing and future cooperation.

    • They reaffirmed their commitment to the rules-based order and to enhance their understanding of how these rules can be applied to state behavior in cyberspace.
    • They reaffirmed their commitment to act in accordance with the UNGGE's previous reports and especially the 11 voluntary norms of state behavior set out in the 2015 report.
    • The two countries reaffirmed that responsible behavior of states in cyberspace is subject to the UN Charter in its entirety new and existing international law.
    • They further reaffirmed that such behavior includes respect for human rights and fundamental freedom.
    • Both the nations have also observed the cumulative reports of the United Nations Group of Governmental Experts (UNGGE).
    • They felt that the reports have gone a long way in order to deepen common understandings, not only about how international law and norms apply to cyberspace but it also provides important guidance on capacity building and confidence building measures.
