    Anupam Kher’s Autobiography released in - New York

    Expert actor Anupam Kher’s autobiography known as “Lessons Life Taught Me, Unknowingly” was
    released at a special programme at Consulate General of India in New York. It was unveiled by
    Rishi Kapoor, along with wife Neetu Kapoor and cast of NBC’s show New Amsterdam.

    • The autobiography of Padma Bhushan awardee reveals a detailed account of his disappointments, rejections and lessons learnt in his life and in a career straddling 500 movies.
    • The autobiography shares events from Kher’s life that shaped his career and is a thrilling account as
      it does not talk about his achievements.
    • The book was published in India on 5th August and will be released in United States on 15th
      October 2019.

    Child Care Leave for Male Service Personnel approved by -  Defence Minister

    Defence minister Rajnath Singh has permitted extension of profits of Child Care Leave to single male service personnel as well as certain moderations of Child Care Leave provisions in case of female officers of defence forces. Presently CCL is granted only to female officers in defence forces.
    This decision is in line with a current Department of Personnel and Training order which extended similar profits of Child Care Leave to civilian employees.
    Child Care Leave-
    Child Care Leave in Defence Forces-
    Single male service personnel as well as female officers will be able to avail Child Care Leave in
    respect of child with 40 percent disability and would be availed without any restriction of age limit of
    child.
    Least period of Child Care Leave that can be availed in each spell has been compact to five days
    from earlier limit of 15 days.
    Child Care Leave to Civilian Employees
    Department of Personnel and Training has made following adjustments to permit Child Care Leave
    to civilian employees –
    Child Care Lave granted to female employees has now been extended to single male government
    servants also.
    Age limit of 22 years given earlier in case of a child with 40 percent disability has been removed
    for purpose of availing Child Care Leave.
    Minimum period of Child Care Leave that can be availed at a time has been reduced to five days
    instead of 15 days.

    Memorandum of Settlement with National Liberation Front of Twipra signed by - Government

    A peace agreement was inked between Government of India, State government of Tripura and
    Tripura’s restricted insurgency group National Liberation Front of Twipra headed by Sabir Kumar

    Debbarma. According to the agreement National Liberation Front of Twipra headed by Sabir
    Kumar Debbarma has decided to abjure path of violence and join mainstream.
    A Memorandum of Settlement was also inked in this regard between, Centre, State Government of
    Tripura and National Liberation Front of Twipra headed by Sabir Kumar Debbarma with group also
    being agreed to surrender its 88 cadres with their weapons.
    Key Highlights

    • National Liberation Front of Twipra has been restricted under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act since 1997. The group has been involved in violence, operating from their camps across international border.

    • The insurgent group has been accountable for violent activities during period 2005-2015 including
      317 insurgency events in which 28 security forces and 62 civilians lost their lives. In 2015, peace
      talks with National Liberation Front of Twipra were initiated and since 2016 there has been no
      violence by National Liberation Front of Twipra.
    • The capitulated cadres will be given surrender advantages as per Scheme for Surrender-cum-
      Rehabilitation of Militants in the North-East, 2018 of Ministry of Home Affairs.
    • State Government of Tripura will help capitulated cadres in recruitment, housing, and education.
    • Also, centre will consider suggestions of Tripura State Government regarding economic development  of tribal areas of Tripura.
