    Malavath Poorna of Andhra became youngest woman to climb Mount Everest

     On 25th May 2014, Malavath Poorna became the youngest woman to climb the Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. Malavath Poorna is 13 years and 11 months old girl. Poorna was accompanied by Sadhanapalli Anand Kumar, a 16-year old from the same state. Poorna is from Nizambad district of Andhra Pradesh and Anand is from Khammam district. Both of them are the students of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Educational Society. 

     

    TR Zeliang sworn-in as new Chief Minister of Nagaland

     On 24th May 2014, TR Zeliang was sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Nagaland. His oath to the office and secrecy was administered by Governor Ashwani Kumar in Kohima.

    Mr Zeliang inducted six new cabinet ministers and retained five. The retained ministers are Noke Wangnao, Kuzholuzo Nienu, Kiyanilie Peseyie, G Kaito and Y Patton.

    He promoted parliamentary secretaries C Kipili Sangtam, Dr Benjongliba, C L John, Nuklutoshi, Niekiesalie Nicky Kire to the ministry and the deputy chairman state planning board in Rio;s government, P Longon.

    Important to note : 

    TR Zeliang is the leader of the Naga People's Front (NPF) and he succeeded the CM Neiphiu Rio as the 16th CM of the Nagaland.

    Japan bagged AFC Women's Asian Football Cup 2014

    Among the sports Current Affairs , important news coming in is, Japan bagged AFC Women's Asian Football Cup 2014. On 25th May 2014, Japan football team defeated defending champion Australia by 1-0. This is Japan’s first-ever AFC Women's Asian Cup.

    In the final, the winning and the only goal was scored by Japanese Azusa Iwashimizu.

    Real Madrid won 10th UEFA Champions League Football title

    On 24th May 2014, Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid by 4-1 at Lisbon to win their 10th UEFA Champions League Football title. It is their first win since 2002. 

    Real Madrid's victory was not only a record tenth triumph in the European Cup but also a record fourth in the UEFA Champions League era, placing them one ahead of Milan and Barcelona. 

    It was Madrid's fourth win in as many finals and came in the club's 200th match in the competition – a landmark previously reached by only one club, Manchester United.
