    NABARD Exam Preparation for English Subject

    The English Section of NABARD (Grade A & B) is widely divided into four parts as stated below in the upcoming column. We will be following individual strategy for each part to prepare for English Section of NABARD exam. Going forward, this strategy will help you if you have applied for both Grade A & B exam as well.

    The 4 parts of English Section are as followed:

    1. Reading Comprehension
    2. Error Spotting and Phrase Replacement
    3. Cloze Test
    4. Para Jumbles

    The English section comprises of 40 marks in itself. You can improve your total marks if you score well in this section as well. Many people find English very difficult to handle due to lack of strong basics in it. But all you need to take care of while preparing for English is that you need to prepare wisely for English when going through it.

    A. Reading Comprehension

    1. Reading comprehension (RC) will have 10-15 questions in it.
    2. Passage will be based on topics like Banking & Economy, Business, Social Issues, and many more.
    3. Questions will be based on Fact and Inference, Vocab & Theme, Antonyms & Synonyms, comprehension and more.
    4. Questions can also be based directly on the content of the passage as it goes by through exam. But you must be alert while choosing the correct option due to the similarity of the questions as they proceed in it.
    5. Questions can also be asked on the Theme of Passage & author’s opinion as well.
    6. The passages are of medium lengthso you must improve your speed of reading and understanding the intent of the passage well within the stipulated time as given in the paper.
    7. Practice one mock test daily from questions available Constant practice will help you achieve accuracy in lesser time and make you more confident for it.
    8. Go through some Reading Comprehension tips to note down the mistakes you make in tackling the comprehensions as well.

    B. Error Spotting and Phrase Replacement

    1. Questions will be asked on the basic Grammar Conceptsof Tenses, Punctuation and more basics of grammar.
    2. It will be based on Articles, Prepositions, Degree of comparison, Subject- Verb Agreement, Conjunctions, Parts of Speech, Standard Construction, Adverbs, Number in Nouns as they make most part and strength of numbers in a paper.
    3. Try to know thebasic rules of Grammar to solve with full accuracy as in grammar being good in it do wonders.
    4. Go through thelessons and articles for Error Spotting tips as well which make you a Grammar - Nazi.
    5. Practice the grammar questionsrelated to error spotting and phrase replacement as it builds your grammar capabilities.
    6. This section will have around5-10 Qs invariably.

    C. Cloze Test

    1. This section will have 8-10
    2. You will be given a single passage with some blanks in to fill. In that, you have to choose the correct option according to the rhythm of the passage, which you can do when your English is up to the mark.
    3. You can refer to the Study Material which you can get online or various text books as well
    4. Quizzes also need to be practiced as well.

    D. Para Jumbles

    1. This section will have 5 Qs.
    2. Questions will be like arrange the sentences in a proper order to form a meaningful paragraph, find the odd sentence – This makes you get a handful of experience on the same front.
    3. You should practice the para jumblesthoroughly to get accuracy and more importantly knowledge about it helps you further as well.
    4. Spend a good amount of timeon this topic as a regular practice to fetch good marks as it helps in shaping your command on the language.

    General Strategy to Prepare English for NABARD (Grade A & B)

    Here’s a general strategy that you should follow to prepare English for NABARD:-

    #1. How to Beat Time: Remember that in the NABARD Exam, time is an important factor which you have to keep in mind attempting it. Do not spend too much time on the English Section as it will wear off your time to more than so. You can achieve accuracy and speed by taking more mock tests and timing yourself while you take those tests as well.

    #2. Stick to Grammar rules: Spend some time to study the basic rules of Grammar which is the core of English. These rules will help you crack many topics in the paper and irony is these rules and concepts are often repeated. So if you practice enough about it you will surely fetch good marks in this section and overall in the exam itself even.
