    Educational Qualification:

    • Graduation from any recognized university and board.
    • Students who are currently doing their final semester can also apply.

    Age Limit:

    The lower limit age is 20 years and the upper limit age is 28 years. Age relaxation provided to reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC etc.

    Pattern for SBI Clerk Examination

    • Preliminary examination:  this exam will be conducted online and will there would be three sections in the examination namely quantitative, reasoning, English and total number of marks will be 100. Candidates will have only 1 hour to complete the paper
    • Main examination:  this exam will also be conducted online. Total time allotted is 2 hour 40 minutes. Main examination will consist of 190 objective-type questions for 200 marks and with only 160 minutes which gives almost 50 seconds per question you won’t have a lot of time.
    • Hindi and English will be the only two language options in the mains exam.
    • Negative marking is exercised in both exams.


    This section contains all the mathematical questions which require paper works. To be an expert in the quant section of this exam, you need to practice almost 10 to 20 questions per day. If you fell uncertain about any difficult question the redo the question again and again to find where you were going wrong and once you find the mistake, refer to a solution book to get it right.


    Observing mental power and the ability of cognitive skills is related to all the questions in the reasoning section. This is far more interesting section than the quant section so prepare the questions and spend more time on these questions so you won’t get anything wrong. Very keen observation is essential for answering these types of questions which will be automatically acquired when interacting with more number of questions.


    Reading English newspaper every day is one of the best ways to improve your skill in English language. Try to study new words every day and also study their synonyms and antonyms. Try to do maximum number of questions which comes under the exam topics


    Knowledge in the current affairs is the key factor while attending the general knowledge questions in SBI Clerk exam. This can be achieved by reading the daily news paper, watching the television news and reading as many books as you can.


     SBI Clerk exams only contain the basic computer knowledge questions. Try to go through some of the basic computer books and study the previous exam papers in order to crack the computer knowledge section in the exam. Also try to study some books related to economy, banking and banking industry for marketing knowledge.

    Solve the previous year question papers so that you get a clear idea about the question type and pattern. There is a chance for asking some of the previous year questions which will be an additional advantage if you work out the previous question papers. So by readings and analyzing previous year’s papers you will increase your chance of scoring well.

    • You Must Feel Confident Before The Exam

    You should have the confidence that you have prepared well enough to give the exam. Believe in yourself that you have to score well to clear and you will score well to clear.

    • Read The Questions Carefully

    Carefully read each questions and try to answer the simple questions initially. Any mistake while reading the question leads you to get the false answer which may be also there in the options and the result will be a penalty. So try to read and understand the questions carefully.

    • Adjust The Exam Time

    Time management is very essential while attending the SBI clerk  exam. Allot time for each section and attend as many questions in this allotted time. Give more time to the sections which requires paper works and calculation and use the remaining time for the other sections.

    • Avoid Blind Guessing

    If you are not sure about the answer of a particular question then just avoid that question because blind guessing may result in marking wrong answer and the outcome will be a negative mark. Do not avoid the option ‘none of these’ because it may be the right answer, so try to find the exact answer of the question and mark only when the answer is surely right.


    The salary of a newly recruited clerk is Rs. 7200. After 3 years, Rs. 400 is added to their job package every year till their salary becomes Rs. 8400. After next 3 years, they get 3 promotions in their basic pay as it increases Rs. 500 per year to reach to Rs. 9900. After the next three years, they get an increase in their salary for Rs. 300 till their salary reaches Rs. 12300. This continues till the basic pay reaches Rs. 19300.
