    Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization which lies under the Government of India with the aim of recruiting staff for various posts in various Ministries and reputed Departments of the Government of India and in their Subordinate Offices. The Staff Selection Commission also has many responsibilities upon them.     • Make recruitment to Group C (non-technical) & Group B (non-gazetted- both technical & non-technical) posts in sector of the Government, its attached & subordinate offices except those for which recruitment is made by the Railway Recruitment Boards & Industrial Establishments.
    •  The main and the important responsibility of SSC is conducting Departmental Examinations for Promotion from Group D to LDC Grade, Promotion from LDC to UDC Grade and Promotion from Stenographers Grade D to Stenographers Grade C besides holding Periodical Typewriting Tests bilingually that is in English & Hindi.

    SSC CGL EXAMINATION DETAILS

    SSC combined graduate level exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission once every year for the recruitment of candidates for different Central Civil posts under numerous reputed government organizations.

    SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination is an all India competitive written examination conducted for the recruitment of candidates for personnel for Grade- B and C categories posts in various Ministries, Departments and Organizations. The written test of this exam consists of four tiers; Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4.

    Every year thousands of candidates apply for this exam to compete for the SSC Combined Graduate Level job for the desired posts as per the advertisement issued by the Staff Selection Commission, the body that conducts the CGL Exam.

    ELIGIBILITY FOR CGL SSC

    All the candidates who are preparing to appear in SSC Exam must match the eligibility criteria in order to apply for the exam.     Education Qualification:

    As by the Exam name, CGL- Combined Graduate Level, most of the candidates know that it is an exam for the candidates who are possessing Graduate degree in of the stream received through a recognized institute.     SSC CGL Age Limit:

    SSC had made changes in the lower and upper age limit from the past years. SSC has notified that upper age limit will be not more than 30 years and minimum age limit is 20 years.

    • Old age limit 18-27 years
    • New age limit 20-30 years

    Nationality:

    Those Candidates who are interested to appear in SSC exam must be Indian by nationality. This is the most common requirement for all the government jobs in India.

    SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR SSC CGL

    The selection procedure of SSC Graduate Level Exam candidates will be based on four stages known as tiers 1, 2, 3 and 4.

    Before 2016, the SSC Graduate Level Selection Process included only two tiers, tier 1 & tier 2, along with final interviews. But after then some substantial changes were made to the CGL Exam recruitment process.

    The commission introduced tier 3 as descriptive paper and tier 4 as DEST/CPT in the recruitment procedure and detached the Interview phase.

    Now, Staff Selection Commission CGL selection procedure will be based upon the following four phases mentioned below:

    • Tier 1 (Preliminary) - Written Examination (Objective Type questions)
    • Tier 2 (Mains) - Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice questions)
    • Tier 3 (Descriptive Test) - Essay / Passage / Application / Letter Writing
    • Tier 4 (DEST/CPT) - Computer Proficiency Test / Data Entry Skill Test / Document Verification

    TIPS AND TRICKS TO FOLLOW FOR SSC CGL

    SSC CGL Reasoning :

    • This section will consist of simple questions so it would be easy to score.
    • The questions in this section are usually less time consuming as compared to questions from Aptitude questions of this exam. So, you can attend the reasoning section at first and then attempt quantitative section.
    • Practice as many questions you possibly can from all the important topics of reasoning. Practice mock tests as they will also help you in time management and SSC CGL previous year question papers.
    • Refine your reasoning skills by improving your concentration and critical thinking skills. Try to figure out the solution behind the question before even attempting the question and read the question multiple times before attempting.

    Quantitative Aptitude-

    • Quantitative Aptitude Section consists of questions from the topics related to mathematics.
    • Note down all important mathematical formulas and shortcut tricks which you require to solve those questions on a small notebook.
    • This section is more time consuming and you will have to have a very good speed and accuracy for this section. To improve your accuracy, start the preparation by trying some mock tests and question papers.
    • Prepare a good strategy for quantitative section while giving the exam. Understand the pattern of the questions asked and figure out the questions which are lengthy by solving previous year question papers. If you do not understand the question, do not waste time and start moving on to the next question.
    • Practice as many questions as possible from all the important topics of quantitative section.

    General Awareness-

    • The section of general awareness contains most of the questions from Static GK. You can focus more on static GK (history, geography, etc.) and start preparing the current affairs in the end.
    • Read newspaper daily or current affairs of last 3 months by going through online sites, magazines, and current affairs PDFs, apps, etc.
    • Keep practicing questions from last year GK quiz and question banks books. Practice with SSC CGL mock tests and SSC CGL previous year question papers to know all about the pattern asked.

    English-

    • Try to speak to everyone in English until it becomes a habit. Learn spoken English by inculcating a habit of reading newspapers, magazines, novels, etc.
    • The English grammar section is the toughest in English language. Pick up a standard book like ‘Wren and Martin’ to ease your preparation.
    • Attempt online mock tests and previous year papers to improve your English Skills.
    • Keep your most concentration on your vocabulary and try to improve it. Get a standard English book for vocabulary to learn new words.
