    India Post launches logo and tagline design contest for - India Post Payments Bank

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 10 June 2016 India Post launched a logo and tagline design contest for the soon to be set up India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) on the MyGov website.

    On 1 June 2016, Union Cabinet gave its approval to set up the IPPB under the Department of Posts to further financial inclusion in India.

    In designing the DNA of the India Post Payments Bank, India Post also wants to involve the people of India. That’s why it is conducting a contest for the design.

    Please Note: To understand the needs of different segments of customers, it has also initiated a nationwide survey.

    Malware Infection Index 2016 is released by – Microsoft

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 7 June 2016 Microsoft Asia launched its Malware Infection Index 2016 (MII2016). 

    The index also identifies the key malware threats and ranks markets in Asia Pacific.

    Here, the index MII2016 revealed about Pakistan as the location with the highest malware encounters followed by Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Vietnam respectively. India stands at No. 8 in region.

    Also the findings were based on data from the Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC) and the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report.

    Who releases 2016 World's 100 Highest-Paid Athletes list – Forbes

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 8 June 2015 only Forbes released the list of 2016 World's 100 Highest-Paid Athletes. Soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo with earnings of 88 million US dollars grabbed the top position in the list.

    If we talk about the list, the 100 top-earning athletes hail from 23 countries and compete in ten sports with Americans (65) and baseball players (26) are being the most numerous among all sports. 

    However, over the last 12 months, they banked a cumulative 3.15 billion US diollars out of which 29 percent of which came from endorsements and appearances.

    Union Railways Ministry flags off which train in Bihar - Champaran Satyagrah Express

    Champaran Satyagrah Express train has been flagged off by Union Railways Ministry Suresh Prabhu at a function in Motihari, Bihar.

    This train is all set to be run between Bapudham, Motihari to Anand Vihar, Delhi. Champaran Satyagrah Express train has been introduced to mark 100 years of the historic Champaran Satyagraha (movement) which was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917. 

    Champaran Satyagrah Express is a weekly train which will have load combination of 15 coaches, including one third AC, six sleeper and six general coaches and two brake vans. 

    Here at the function, the Union Minister also inaugurated Banmankhi – Purnea rail section and Pipraha Railway Station. Through video conferencing, he also inaugurated road over bridges at Motihar, Begusarai and Danapur. 

    India, Japan and US navies kick off 2016 Malabar Exercise near - South China Sea

    Among Important International Current Affairs, near South China Sea India, Japan and United States (US) navies have kicked off 2016 MALABAR trilateral naval Exercise. 

    In 2016, it is the 20th edition of the naval exercise in which over 100 aircraft and 22 naval ships including a nuclear submarine are also participating. 

    Do You Know – 

    • For 8 days only, the 20th edition of the naval exercise will be conducted. 

    • This edition includes harbour phase exercises at Sasebo, Japan and the sea phase exercises in the Pacific Ocean. 

    • Main aim of the exercise is to increase interoperability amongst the three navies and develop common understanding of procedures for Maritime Security Operations.
