    Nepal's first woman Chief Justice - Sushila Karki

    Sushila Karki Among Important National Current Affairs, on 10th July 2016 Nepal’s Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) announced Sushila Karki as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

    After this announcement, Karki has now become the first woman to lead Nepal’s judiciary. She will also be appointed to the post by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

    Know About Sushila Karki - 

    • On 13th April, 2016 Sushila Karki, became the first woman Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Nepal.

    • Sushila Karki is known for her zero tolerance against corruption in the judiciary.

    Which nuclear power plant attains criticality – Kudankulam

    On 10th July 2016, the second reactor of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) succeeded criticality at 8.56 PM.

    On 8th July 2016, commencing the First Approach to Criticality by withdrawing the control rods from the reactor, boron dilution started a few hours later to allow neutron concentration to go up, which eventually led to the criticality of the reactor.

    The KKNPP had submitted its final reports to the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) and received the green signal for criticality after the Ministry of Environment; Forest and Climate Change experts inspected the second unit. They have also submitted their report to the Supreme Court.

    At present, India operates 21 reactors that can generate about 5780 MW of electricity besides giving the country its atomic weapons.

    India, Tanzania signed how many agreements – Five

    Among Important International Current Affairs, India and Tanzania have signed total five (5) agreements to step up bilateral ties between both the nations. 

    In the presence of PM Narendra Modi and Tanzanian President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, these agreements were signed from 9 July to 10 July 2016, in Dar-es-Salaam. PM Modi also visited Tanzania on the third leg of his four-nation tour of Africa viz. Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya.

    NBAGR confers rare and singular species genetic recognition tag to - Kendrapara Sheep

    Among Important National Current Affairs, NBAGR which is known as The National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources has been given rare and singular species genetic recognition tag to the threatened breed of Kendrapara sheep found in Odisha. 

    This sheep has received registration number INDIA_SHEEP_1500_KENDRAPADA_14042 and it also became the 42nd sheep breed in India to receive such tag. 

    Do You Know -

    • The genetically rare status of this sheep will help to boost conservation effort to protect these domesticated threatened sheep. 

    • Earlier by NBAGR, two buffalo and four cattle breeds’ native to Odisha were registered at national level.

    Which tennis player won the title 2016 British Grand Prix - Lewis Hamilton

     Lewis Hamilton Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 10th July 2016 Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton grabbed the title of 2016 British Grand Prix Award of Formula One at the Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone, United Kingdom.

    After this win, it is Hamilton’s overall fourth British Grand Prix title. Before 2016 she won in 2008, 2014 and 2015. 

    Hamilton also became the first driver to win the British Grand Prix three times in a row.
