    Hindi poet Kedarnath Singh conferred with Jnanpith award 2013

    Among the Prizes Current Affairs, On 10th November 2014, Noted Hindi Poet Kedarnath Singh was conferred with the Jnanpith Award which is country's highest literary award. Eminent Poet was conferred with this prestigious award by President Pranab Mukherjee at a function at Balyogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building in New Delhi.

    Mr. Kedarnath Singh was honoured for his outstanding contribution towards Indian literature. 

    Jeevan Pramaan-Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners launched by PM

    On 10th November 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Jeevan Pramaan- an Aadhar based Digital Life Certificate for pensioners. This scheme is about digital life certificates which is expected to benefit over a crore pensioners who have to produce Life Certificates each year to receive pension.

    After this pensioners will not have to submit their physical Life Certificate in November each year in order to continue their pensions.

    Now this all process will be using a software application which will have facilities to record the pensioner's Aadhar number and biometric details. So these details will be collected digitally on real time basis which will be a valid proof that the pensioner's pension should continue.

    Mannan Kumar Mishra reappointed as BCI Chairman

    On 10th November 2014, Mannan Kumar Mishra was re-elected as Chairman of the Bar Council of India (BCI), also S. Prabakaran was re-elected as Co-Chairman of BCI.

    Bhoje Gowda SL was elected as vice-chairman, T.S. Ajith was elected as chairman of the executive committee and Nilesh Kumar was elected as the vice-chairman of the executive committee.

    These new office bearers will be holding the office till April 2014.

    India, Israel joint venture LR SAM missile successfully tested in Israel

    On 10th November 2014, India and Israel successfully test fired long range surface to air missile jointly developed which also signifies their cooperation in developing advanced weapon systems.

    LRSAM (Long Range Surface to Air Missile) was tested by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in the presence of DRDO (Defence Research & Development Organisation) scientists and officials of Indian Army. DRDO chief Dr Avinash Chander (Who is also Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister) and IAI President Joseph Weiss were persent on this occasion among all other top officials.
