Who was appointed as new Vice Chancellor of Bhatkhande Music Institute - Prof Kumkum Dhar

On 11th September 2015, Noted Kathak danseuse Professor Kumkum Dhar was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Bhatkhande Music Institute. Professor Kumkum Dhar succeeded incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof Shruti Sadolikar Katkar. Her apointment was approved by UP Governor Mr. Ram Naik.

Professor Kumkum Dhar is disciple of late Pt Lachhu Maharaj.

Auto portal Zigwheels was acquired by - CarDekho

On 11th September 2015, Major auto portal CarDekho acquired Zigwheels. Zigwheels is also an auto portal which was owned by Times Internet.

Who was appointed as new MD and CEO of Canara Bank - Rakesh Sharma

Among Important Banking Current Affairs, On 11th September 2015, Rakesh Sharma was appointed as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Canara Bank. Before this appointment he was serving as MD and CEO of Lakshmi Vilas Bank since March 2014.

If we talk about his past experience then he has also served SBI in various roles which also includes his role in Tokyo where he was in charge of the overall functioning of SBI branches in Japan. 

US Open Mixed Doubles Title 2015 was lifted by - Leander Paes and Martina Hingis

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, Noted Indian Tennis player Leander Paes won US Open Mixed Doubles Title 2015 along with his Swiss partner Martina Hingis.

They defeated  Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey with 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 after a long match of one hour and seventeen minutes.

This was 17th Grand Slam for Leander Paes.

Leander Paes and Martina Hingis became first team since 1969 to win three Grand Slam mixed doubles titles in the same season at the US Open. 46 years ago Marty Riessen and Margaret Court did it.

Indian Govt approved the purchase of 10 Heron TP drones from which country - Israel

Among National Current Affairs, On 11th September 2015, Union Government approved a purchase of 10 Heron TP drones. India will be buying these drones from Israel. With the help of these missile-armed drones India will have better cross-border military strike capability. Indian Air Force will be operating these drones.

This deal will be around $400 million. 

Heron drones can carry a payload of over 1,000 kg and will be equipped with air-to-ground missiles that detect, track and take down targets deep in enemy territory.
