    Test, ODI, and T20I Rankings are released by – ICC

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 12th July 2016 The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the official ICC men’s Team Rankings from Test, One Day International (ODI) and T20I cricket.

    However, India holds the second position in the latest ICC Test rankings with 112 rating points followed by two countries i.e. Pakistan and England. 

    Please Note: Australia leads the Test rankings with 118 rating.

    In ODI Rankings: Australia leads with 123 ratings, New Zealand with 113 and India with 110 ratings.

    While in ICC T20 Rankings: New Zealand leads with 132 ratings, India with 128 and West Indies with 122 ratings.

    which organization released the list of World's Highest-Paid Celebrities of 2016 – Forbes

    Among Important Entertainment Current Affairs, on 11th July 2016 Forbes released the list of world's highest-paid celebrities of 2016. This list is also termed as Celebrity 100.

    Talking about the Forbes’ Celeb 100 list, it also includes the name of two Bollywood actors i.e. Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar.

    Shahrukh Khan was ranked 86th in the list with earnings of 33 million US dollars, whereas, Akshay Kumar got the 94th rank in the list with earnings of 31.5 million US dollars.

    However, the key factors that are taken into account to rank the celebrities include income, Google hits, fan base, press clips and magazine covers.

    Forbes’ list, which ranks 100 celebrities from all over the globe, was topped by Taylor Swift with earnings of 170 million US dollars.

    Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled in favor of The Philippines on - South China Sea

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 12th July 2016 The Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) ruled in favor of the Philippines in a maritime dispute on South China Sea. 

    The tribunal also concluded that China do not have legal basis to claim historic rights to the bulk of the Sea.

    SBI inks MoU with which institution to promote fintech start-ups - IIT Bombay

    Among Important National Current Affairs, in the second week of July 2016 State Bank of India (SBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE).

    The main aim behind this sign of the MoU was to promote innovation by start-ups in the financial sector.

    This deal also aims to help evaluate start-ups operating out of SINE or those being promoted by SINE for early stage funding within the bank’s norms.

    Please Note: SINE is IIT Bombay’s technology business incubator.

    Which two countries signed deal for construction of coal fired power plant – India & Bangladesh

    On 12th July 2016, two countries, India and Bangladesh has signed a landmark deal for the construction of Rampal Power Station, a 1320 megawatt coal fired power plant.

    The Rampal Power Station is known to be the biggest project under bilateral cooperation.

    • BIFPCL, which is known as the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited, it’s a joint venture enterprise, signed the deal with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

    • BHEL was chosen under an open international tender for constructing the super thermal plant at Bangladesh's southwestern Rampal near the Sundarbans.
