Order for procuring Spike missiles from Israel placed by - Indian Army

Indian Army has put an order for procuring Israeli Anti-Tank Spike missiles from Israel. The obtaining was made under emergency purchases to complete operational preparedness of the army.

• It is well known for their accuracy targeting with an ability to penetrate even bunkers.
• It can hit targets at a range of four kms and it can be deployed in both mountains and plain areas.
• It can be fired from different platforms including vehicles, helicopters, ships and ground launchers.
• Itcan be deployed even along the LoC.
• In April after Balakot strike, Indian Army sanctioned gaining of the missile and orders were placed in July 2019.
• Indian Army is also prioritising purchase of precision guided kit for artillery ammunition.
