    Who recommends heavy fine and ban on celebrities endorsing products in misleading ads – GoM

    Among Important National Current Affairs, a high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) has approved imposing a heavy fine and ban on celebrities who endorse products making unrealistic and dodgy claims. 

    However, the GoM headed by Union Finance Minister was tasked to look into the issue of Celebrity endrosement and recommendations of Standing Committee of the Parliament on the recently introduced The Consumer Protection Bill, 2015.

    INSV Mhadei Flagged Off with an - All-Women Crew

    Among Important International Current Affairs, Indian Navy Sailing Vessel (INSV) Mhadei with an all-women crew was flagged off from Goa to Cape Town, South Africa. 

    However, on 9th November 2016 the vessel was flagged-off at the Boat Pool of INS Mandovi by Rear Admiral Monty Khanna, Commandant Naval War College.

    On 15th December 2016, the vessel that will reach Cape Town will be participating in the “Cape to Rio Race” (Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro). 

    On 26th December 2016, the race will start from Cape Town.

    Union Government unveils steps to boost – Cybersecurity

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Union Government has unveiled a slew of measures in an attempt to strengthen cyber security in India. 

    However, it was announced by the Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad at the Economic Editors’ Conference-2016. 

    Here the conference was organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Finance in New Delhi.

    Who has been elected as Interpol President - Meng Hongwei

    Among Important International Current Affairs, Meng Hongwei, a top-level Chinese Security Minister was elected as the president of the International Crime fighting and police cooperation organization (Interpol). 

    However, Meng will serve as President until 2020.

    Now, with this appointment Meng Hongwei becomes the first official from China to take the post. He has previously served as the head of Interpol China. At the time of this appointment, he was holding the position of China’s Vice Minister for public security.
