    National Seismic Programme in Mahanadi Basin is launched by - Dharmendra Pradhan

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 12th October 2016 Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (with Independent charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, has launched the National Seismic Programme (NSP) on Mahanadi basin (onshore) in Odisha.

    However, the Programme was launched to carry out assessment of unappraised areas across the country for potential oil and natural gas reserves.

    Who won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature - Bob Dylan

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 13th October 2016 Bob Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature.

    However, Dylan was bestowed with the precious award for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.

    CCEA approves revision of ethanol price for supply to - Public Sector OMCs 

    Among Important National Current Affairs, finally the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the mechanism for revision of ethanol price for supply to Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). 

    Here, the revised administered price will facilitate OMCs to carry out the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme for the next sugar season 2016-17.

    First World Tsunami Awareness Day to be celebrated at – AMCDRR

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 5th November 2016 The First World Tsunami Awareness Day will be celebrated at the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2016.

    However, the event will be organised with Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Champions at the Conference.

    Here, the Conference will be organised from 3 November to 5 November 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi by the Government of India in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR).

    Who has been appointed as Ambassador of India to Austria - Renu Pall

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 8th October 2016 the Former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Renu Pall was appointed as the Ambassador of India to Austria. 

    However, her appointment was announced by the Union Ministry of External Affairs.

    She will be seen handling the responsibility of Rajiva Misra in Austria. Presently, Pall is serving as the Ambassador of India to the Czech Republic.

    International Day for Disaster Reduction observed with theme - Live to Tell: Raising Awareness, Reducing Mortality

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 13th October 2016 International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) was observed across the world with the theme Live to Tell: Raising Awareness, Reducing Mortality. 

    However, this day encourages every citizen and government to take part in building more disaster resilient communities and nations.

    Here, the 2016 edition marks the launch of the new "Sendai Seven" campaign by United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). 

    Also Sendai Seven is centred on the seven targets of the Sendai Framework, the first of which is reducing disaster mortality. UNISDR’s campaign seeks to create a wave of awareness about actions taken to reduce mortality around the world.
