    Tata Advanced Systems signs deal with - Bell Helicopter

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 14th July 2016 Tata Advanced System (TASL) and Bell Helicopter, a Textron Company signed an agreement to work together in support of India’s aviation and defense modernization initiatives. 

    This agreement was inked with an emphasis on ‘Make in India’.

    According to the agreement, TASL and Bell Helicopters will join soon to develop both commercial and government (including military) rotary wing markets in India in the light utility and reconnaissance segments.

    Which month begins in Kerala - Ramayana Month

    On 16th July 2016, Kerala started observing month of Ramayana in the temples. In Malayalam it is known as the Ramayana Masam. The Ramayana Month starts with the commencement of Malayalam month ‘Karkidakam’.

    During this Ramayana Month, the temples and homes of the state recites Adhyatma Ramayanam Kilippattu which is written by medieval devotional poet Thunjath Ezhuthachan for the 30 days. Ezhuthachan is regarded as the father of Malayalam literature.

    On the first day of the month, the reading of epic Ramayana begins which is completed on the last day of the month Karkkidakom. 

    However, every day in the evening the Ramayana is recited by the elder members’ after lighting traditional lamp Nilavilakku.

    Which university enters UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list - Nalanda Mahavihara

    An old Nalanda University which is known as the Nalanda Mahavihara of Bihar has been included in the Tentative List of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. 

    Nalanda Mahavihara, which is located in Patna (Bihar) ruins comprise the archaeological remains of monastic-cum-scholastic from the 5th century BC to the 13th century AD. 

    Know About Nalanda Mahavihara – 

    • Nalanda University, which is now popularly known as Nalanda International University is located in Rajgir, Bihar.

    • On 1st September 2014, The Nalanda University began its first academic session with 15 students including five women. 

    Which state becomes first state to approve setting up of Happiness Department - Madhya Pradesh 

    On 15th July 2016, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet gave green signal to set up Happiness Department in the state. The department will work here as knowledge resource centre on the subject of happiness.

    However, after getting this approval, Madhya Pradesh now became the first state of the country to set up such a Department.

    Also apart from the department, the cabinet has decided to establish a state Happiness Institute under the Happiness Department. Initially it will have a budget of three crore 60 lakh rupees.
