    Who is appointed as Controller General of Accounts - MJ Joseph

    Among the important appointments, On 15th May 2015, MJ Joseph was appointed as the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the Union Ministry of Finance. He has replaced Jawahar Thakur who has been appointed as OSD (Accounting Reforms) in the Office of CGA.

    Earlier to this appointment, Joseph was the Director General of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). He is a 1979 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer.

    Joseph had served in various administrative capacities in the Union Government including the post of Additional Secretary in Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs and as Director in Union Ministry of Defence among others.

    He had also served as a Public Financial Management Adviser at the IMF’s Regional Technical Assistance centre.

    Name the system launched by Union Government for National Highways - Road Asset Management System

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 15th May 2015, Road Asset Management System (RAMS) for National Highways was launched by Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping. The system will orgnize information on traffic through use of laser technology, condition of the pavements and road assets.

    The result of this integrated data collection system will help in development of the National Highways network in India, finalizing road safety measures and developing an accurate and scientific maintenance planning mechanism.

    A web based application hosted in the public domain will manage and store the data collected. It can also be accessed by smart phones after its development.

    Data gathered from this project will be useful for funding agencies, NHAI, State PWDs, Police departments, Finance Ministry, Transport Ministry, developers and citizens.

    Agreement for exchange of art, culture programmes has been signed between - DD and CCTV

    On 15th May 2015, An agreement for exchange of art, culture and development television programmes has been signed between Doordarshan and China Central Television (CCTV). During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China, Prasar Bharathi CEO Jawhar Sircar on behalf of India in Beijing signed the agreement .

    This agreement will enable both CCTV and Doordarshan to share programmes at free of cost on their networks. According to the agreement, Doordarshan will offer programmes related to art, culture and tourism while CCTV in turn will exchange success stories, development programmes and human interest.

    Who has been conferred with Pt. Haridutt Sharma Award for Journalism and Social Services - Anurradha Prasad

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 15th May 2015, the Editor-in-Chief of News 24 Channel, Anurradha Prasad was conferred with the Pt. Haridutt Sharma Award for Social Services, Journalism and Writing.

    Vice- President Hamid Ansari in New Delhi conferred him with the award. The award is given in the memory of Pt. Haridutt Sharma, a veteran journalist and eminent writer.

    Every year the award is presented in the field of Journalism, Writing and Social Services for the outstanding contribution in their respective field. The Award also includes a Cash prize of 51000 rupees, Souvenir, Trophy, Shawl and Citation.
