    How many services are launched by the Union Government to strengthen public health infrastructure - 4 Mobile Health Services

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 15th January 2016, four mobile health (m-Health) services were launchd by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, J P Nadda to offer citizen-centric health services.

    These four mobile health services are : TB Missed Call initiative, Mobile Academy, Kilkari and M-Cessation.

    Features of Mobile Academy

    • This mobile app will provide training services to 9 million ASHAs.
    • After registering themselves, ASHAs can access the 240-minute course via their mobile phones which will enhance their inter-personal skills.
    • A Certificate of completion will be issued from the Government to ASHA's after successfull completion of  the course by securing more than minimum prescribed marks.

    Features of Kilkari

    • This service will convey weekly audio messages child care, child birth and about pregnancy.
    • Weekly voice messages pertinent to the stage of pregnancy or age of the infant will be delivered to every pregnant woman and infant’s mother.
    • In the first round of execution of services, messages would be sent to the infants’ mothers and pregnant women in six States in HPDs of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Odisha and Jharkhand.

    Features of the TB Missed Call initiative

    • A toll free number 1800-11–6666 will provide 24X7 treatment and counselling support services for TB patients. 
    • Under this initiative, callers can get information related to address and contact details of the nearest treatment facility, TB symptoms, treatment services available just by giving a missed call or a free call. 
    • In the initial stage of deployment, the service will be made available in Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana.

    Features of M-Cessation

    • This is an IT-enabled tool which will help users to quit tobacco.
    • A two-way SMS process will be used to do the counselling.

    Who has won 2016 WTA Apia International Sydney Title - Sania Mirza & Martina Hingis

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 15th January 2016, the 2016 WTA Apia International Sydney title of Tennis in the women’s doubles category was won by Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis.

    This was their 30th win in-a-row and 11th title together since 2015.

    Earlier on 14th January 2016, the duo of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis after winning their 29th women’s doubles match in a row, created a world record and broke the 22-years old record held by Natasha Zvereva (Belarus) and Gigi Fernandez (Puerto Rico) having a streak of 28 straight victories in 1994. 

    Which two airways have entered into Frequent Flyer Partnership - Jet Airways and Bangkok Airways

    Among the important Business Current Affairs, On 15th January 2016, Mumbai-based Jet Airways entered into a Frequent Flyer Partnership with Bangkok Airways after the tie-up of award-winning loyalty and rewards management programme of Jet Airways named JetPrivilege and FlyerBonus, the loyalty scheme of Bangkok Airways.

    Highlights of the partnership

    • As a result of this partnership, JetPrivilege members can now earn and redeem reward points JPMiles when travelling across the Bangkok Airways network. 
    • Apart from this, Members of Bangkok Airways' FlyerBonus programme can also earn and redeem their miles across Jet Airways’ international destination in SAARC, Middle East, North America and Europe and in India.

    Where did the 61st Filmfare Awards presented - Mumbai

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 15th January 2016, The 61st Filmfare Awards were presented in Mumbai at the Yash Raj Studios. 

    Along with the Best Film award, Bajirao Mastani won the most awards.

    2015 Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Moushumi Chatterjee.
