    Former Union Minister G. Venkataswamy passed away

    On 22nd December 2014, Former Union Minister G. Venkataswamy passed away in Hyderabad, Telangana. He was 85 years old. He was a representative from Peddapalli constituency of Andhra Pradesh which is at present in Telanganaand was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC).

    Served in the congress government led by former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao and he also held Pradesh Congress Chairman for Andhra Pradesh.

    To develop stretches of National Waterway 5 IWAI signed MoU with Odisha government

    On 22nd December 2014, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) signed MoU with Odisha government, Paradip Port and Dhamra Port to develop commercially viable stretches of National Waterway 5. In the National Waterway-5, East Coast Canal has been integrated with Brahmini river and Mahanadi delta rivers with have a total distance of 588 km's.

    HRIDAY scheme for conservation of heritage characters of cities

    Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu announced National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) for conserving and preserving the heritage characters of 12 cities. These 12 cities are following : 

    • Amritsar,
    • Varanasi,
    • Gaya,
    • Puri,
    • Ajmer,
    • Mathura,
    • Dwarka,
    • Badami,
    • Velankanni,
    • Kanchipuram,
    • Warangal and 
    • Amaravati.

    This scheme is aimed at development of tourism and job creation because India's rich cultural, historical, religious and natural heritages have a huge potential of tourism.

    Ford Credit India to operate as a NBFC after licensed by RBI

    On 22nd December 2014, Ford Credit India was given license by RBI to operate as a non-banking financial company (NBFC) which make it important news among banking current affairs. 

    By first quarter of 2015 Company is supposed to start automotive financing in India. Ford Credit has more than 3.8 million customers around the world and has a range of automotive financial products and services to about 5200 Ford. It is on course to invest 2 billion US dollar which includes its new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

    IBA committee on Member Private Sector Banks got new Chairman as Shyam Srinivasan

    Among the important appointments, On 19th December 2014, Shyam Srinivasan was appointed as Chairman of the reconstituted Indian Bank's Association committee on Member Private Sector Banks for 2014-15.

    This committee consists of executives from 13 private banks. Shyam Srinivasan is an alumnus of the IIM Kolkata and has served on the Global Executive Forum of Standard Chartered Bank from 2004 to 2010 and in Sep 2010

    Mr. Shyam Srinivasan is CEO of Federal Bank and took charge as the MD and CEO of the Federal Bank Ltd.

    Prakash Mishra appointed as Director General of CRPF

    On 22nd December 2014, Senior IPS officer of Orissa cadre appointed as the Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He will be serving at this post till February 2016. He will be succeeding Mr. Dilip Trivedi who was retired on 30th November 2014. 

    Appointments committee of the Union Cabinet headed by PM Narendra Modi cleared his name for this post. 

    Mr. Prakash Mishra is an IPS officer of 1977 batch of Orissa cadre and In july 2012 he was appointed as the Chairman cum Managing director of the Orissa State Road Transport Corporation.
