    MoU signed between India and Cuba on - 22nd June 2018

    India, Cuba signed MoU to increase co-operation in the field of Biotechnology, medicine & homoeopathy on June 22nd, 2018. These MoUs were signed after the delegation-level talks between President Ram Nath Kovind and his counterpart Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel from Cuba at Revolution Palace in Havana, Cuba. The delegation including Minister of state for steel Vishnu Deo Sai and two other Members of parliament were present there alongwith President.

    Important Highlights

    • The health ministries of both the countries agreed towards the enhanced cooperation in biotechnology, renewable energy and traditional medicine.
    • Cuba and India signed an MOU to improve cooperation in traditional medicine and homeopathy.
      Meanwhile, envoys from the Ministry of Science and Technology of both the sides agreed on an
    • MOU to deepen collaboration on biotechnology.
    • A Letter of Intent was signed between BioCubaFarma and India's Kalam Institute of the Health Technology.
    • Cuba reaffirmed its support to India's candidature for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

    India-Cuba Relations

    • India shares a strong, cordial and friendly relations with Cuba.
    • India and Cuba have historic ties since 1959 when famous guerrilla fighter Ernesto Guevara visited New Delhi.
    • Both the countries are founding members of Non-Aligned Movement and have stood for South-South solidarity and also collaborated very closely in United Nations and other forums.

    President Ram Nath Kovind is on a three-nation visit to Greece, Suriname and Cuba.  Mr. Kovind Ramnath, Indian president visited Suriname and Greece and discussed issues of bilateral concerns with the concerned dignitaries of respective countries, before visitng to Cuba.

    PM Modi inaugurated AIIB Annual Meeting 2018 on - June 25th - 26th 2018

    The Department of AIIB (Economic Affairs, Union Ministry of Finance and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank) made announcement on on June 22nd 2018 to jointly host the third Annual Meeting
    of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on June 25th-26th, 2018 in Mumbai, India. AIIB Annual Meeting 2018 theme is 'Mobilising Finance for Infrastructure: Innovation and Collaboration'.

    Important Highlights of the AIIB Annual Meeting 2018

    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inauguratiing the third Annual Meeting of AIIB on June 26th, 2018.  
    • The nodal Department is the Industries Department of the Maharashtra Government and nodal agency is the MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) is the nodal agency.
    • The CII (Confedartion of Indian Industry (CII) is the pco (Professional Conference Organiser); Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries (RIS)  is the knowledge partner for the 3rd Annual Meeting of AIIB.
    • This year meeting will be seeing the leaders from varied organizations and levels of government to share ideas and  experiences to create a sustainable future through sound infrastructure investment.
    • The inaugural Asian Infrastructure Forum will be launched, that will be gathering infrastructure practitioners in a practical and project-driven discourse, focused towards matching innovative finance for critical infrastructure needs.
    • The two-day meeting will going to witness the presence of top policy makers, Ministers from AIIB members, participants from partner institutions,  the private sector and civil society organizations.
    • The leading experts from a range of fields will also be present to give discussions and share their insights while addressing Asia’s infrastructure gap in an environmental and social friendly way.
