ISRO successfully placed Mangalyaan in Mars orbit, became first in Asia
24th September 2014, It was a great day of Indian history as ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) placed Mangalyaan in Mars orbit. By this India became first country to do so in Asia and Fourth Country in world to reach red planet.

Also important to mention that India became first country to insert spacecraft around mars in first attempt.

Debroy Panel appointed to suggest ways for restructuring the Railway Board
On 23rd September 2014, Union government set up Debroy Panel to suggest ways for restructuring the Railway Board. Debroy Panel will study and will suggest various
measures to reorganize the Railway Board and its departments so that policy making is separated from day-to-day operations.

This panel is supposed to submit its report till the end of 2015.
Economist Bibek Debroy is heading this seven member panel.
Govind Mishra conferred "Saraswati Samman 2013" for his novel "Dhool Paudhon Par"
On 23rd September 2014, Noted Hindi author Govind Mishra was conferred with "Saraswati Samman 2013" by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He got this award for his novel "Dhool Paudhon Par" which was published in 2008.
By this Govind Mishra became second hindi author to get this award after Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
International Finance Corp raised 100 million US dollars through Maharaja Bonds
On 23rd September 2014, IFC (International Finance Corporation) raised 100 million US dollars from international and domestic institutional investors through its first onshore rupee bond named Maharaja Bonds. By this week these bonds will be listed in National Stock Exchange too.
Bond offers an innovative structure to attract different types of investors to the domestic capital markets.
IFC is a member of the World Bank Group which was established in 1956. It focuses on private sector in developing countries and it is largest global development institution.
Liar's Dice a film by Geetu Mohandas will lead India in Oscar Awards 2015
On 23rd September 2014, Hindi film Liar's Dice was selected for India's official entry in the 2015 Oscars Awards. This is a film by Geethu Mohandas. Actors Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles in this film.

This was nominated in Best Foreign Language Film category. Twelve member jury headed by noted filmmaker T. Hariharan made decision to select this movie.
