    World Malaria Day 2016 observed with what theme - End Malaria For Good

    On 25 April 2016, World Malaria Day (WMD) was observed globally. For 2016, the theme is ‘End Malaria For Good’.

    In 2016, theme reflects the vision of a malaria-free world set out in the Global technical strategy for malaria 2016-2030.

    Know About World Malaria Day –

    •World Malaria Day is an international observance commemorated every year on 25 April and recognizes global efforts to control malaria. 

    •In the whole world, 3.3 billion people in 106 countries are at risk of malaria.

    •World Malaria Day is one of eight official global public health campaigns currently marked by the World Health Organization (WHO), along with World Health Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Immunization Week, World Tuberculosis Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Hepatitis Day and World AIDS Day.

    Which tennis player won 2016 Barcelona Open – Rafael Nadal

    Rafael Nadal who is an ace tennis player from Spain won the 2016 Barcelona Open title of Tennis. 

    As it was Nadal’s overall 9th Barcelona Open title and 69th win from 101 finals on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour. He also has now won his first 10 matches of the European clay-court 2016 season.

    •Rafael Nadal who is a Spanish professional tennis player currently ranked world No. 5.

    •Due to Rafael Nadal dominance and success on the surface, he is widely regarded as the greatest clay-court player in history. 

    •Rafael Nadal has been titled "The King of Clay". His evolution into an all-court threat has established him as one of the greatest players in tennis history, with some considering Nadal to be the greatest player of all time.

    Andhra Pradesh CM inaugurated interim Secretariat complex in - Amaravati

    On 25 April 2016, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu formally inaugurated the state's interim government complex named AP Government Transitional Headquarters at Velagapudi village in capital region Amaravati.

    From 15 June 2016, the government is determined to begin operations from Amaravati region. The construction of the government complex has been going on at a brisk pace to meet the deadline.

    A 2000 square feet office space was hurriedly readied for use by the state government and Chief Minister occupied his office to mark the inauguration. He signed a file relating to waiver of loan for horticulture farmers on the occasion.

    Full Pink Moon seen across the skies of which country - North America

    In the skies of North America, the Full Pink Moon was seen on 22 April 2016. 

    But it was disappointed to see that the moon appeared normally white and smaller than usual. 

    In North America, the April’s full moon is usually referred as Pink Moon.

    As it was at its furthest point from the Earth, the moon usually appeared to be smaller than usual. 

    Do You Know -This full moon comes less than one day after reaching lunar apogee, the moon’s farthest point in its monthly orbit. It lies around 50 thousand km farther from Earth than 2016’s closest full moon.

    •The Pink Moon is the full moon that appears in April.

    •This Pink Moon name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring.

    World Immunization Week 2016 organised which campaign - Close the immunization gap

    Between 24 April and 30 April 2016, World Immunization Week 2016 is being organised across the globe. 

    The week’s campaign is ‘Close the Immunization Gap’ and it aims to achieve global vaccination targets by year 2020.

    The 2016 Close the Immunization Gap campaign additionally stresses the need for immunization among adolescents and adults - throughout life.

    Main goal of this campaign is to draw the world’s attention to the critical importance of reaching vulnerable people living in conflict situations or in the wake of emergencies.
