Which country ranks 138 in 2016 ICT Development Index – India

Among Important National Current Affairs, India has been ranked 138th in the 2016 ICT Development Index out of a total of 175 countries. 

However, in year 2015 India ranked 135th position. The index was released as part of the annual measuring the Information Society Report for 2016 of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Know About ICT Development Index (IDI) - 

• IDI, which is known as the ICT Development Index rankings compare the state of ICT development across countries. It is published annually by the UN ITU. 

• Also the IDI is based on 11 ICT indicators, grouped in three sub-indices: access, use and skills.

On 25th November which day was observed across the world - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 

Among Important International Current Affairs, on 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was observed across the world. 

However, the main theme for the day is “Orange the World - raise funds to end violence against women”.

Here the colour orange in the theme symbolizes a better future without the pervasive human rights violation that affects 1 in 3 women and girls all over the globe.

The main motto behind this day is to raise awareness about violence against women and discuss solutions that would work for women community.

Which actor won 10th Asia Pacific Screen Award in Best Actor Category - 

Manoj Bajpayee

Among Important Entertainment Current Affairs, on 24th November 2016 bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee won the Best Actor Award at the 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, beating Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was awarded a special mention in the same category.

However, Manoj won the Best Performance award for his role as Professor Siras in "Aligarh", a powerful and personal drama based on true events and the actor Nawazuddin received a Special Mention in the Best Performance category for his role in Anurag Kashyap's "Raman Raghav 2.0".

Upgraded Jaguar DARIN III aircraft receives – IOC

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 24th November 2016 the upgraded Jaguar DARIN III twin-seat aircraft received the Initial Operation Clearance (IOC). IOC is a significant milestone for India’s military aviation sector.

However, this completion of IOC for DARIN III was announced by Deputy Chief of IAF, Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria. Well In recent past, he flew the aircraft at HAL airport in Bengaluru. Wg Cdr V Prabhakaran, the test Pilot of Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment, was his co-pilot.

According to HAL CMD, T Suvarna Raju - the aircraft is now equipped with world-class avionics system.’

7000-year-old city discovered in – Egypt

Among Important International Current Affairs, Egypt recently uncovered a lost city, more than 7000 years old dating right back to its first dynasty in the southern province of Sohag. 

However, the site was unearthed during an archaeological mission initiated by the country’s government. It also lies 250 miles south of Cairo, about 400 meters away from the temple of Seti I, one of the most famous religious sites in the region named after one of the least known pharaohs of the New Kingdom period of Ancient Egypt.

Please Note - The discovery includes huts, pottery remains, iron tools and 15 graves. The grave sizes look bigger than some of the royal ones belonging to the kings in Abydos, indicating that those who were buried beneath held a high social standing.

Who has been appointed as a Chairman of NHAI - Yudhvir Singh Malik

Among Important National Current Affairs, in the third week of November, 2016 Yudhvir Singh Malik was appointed the new Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Also Malik, who worked as the Special Secretary with NITI Aayog, will replace Raghav Chandra.

However, after Malik’s appointed Chandra has been shifted to National Commission for Schedule Tribes.
