    RBI asks banks to extend loans to women SHGs at - 7% rate

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked banks to provide loans up to Rs 3 lakh at only 7 per cent interest rate to Women Self-Help Group (SHG). 

    However, this loan scheme must be provided under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM)-Aajeevika scheme during 2015-16. 

    Do You Know – 

    • Ater approval from the Union Ministry of Rural Development, the revised guidelines on interest subvention scheme under NRLM have been issued. 

    • Under this loan scheme, an interest subvention on credit up to Rs 3 lakhs at 7% per annum will be provided. 

    • Without any doubt, all women SHGs will be eligible for it.

    Abhinav Bindra to Head NRAI Review Committee on Rio Debacle 

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, NRAI which means The National Rifle Association of India has constituted five-member review committee to probe the Indian shooters’ Rio Games debacle. 

    Here, the committee will be headed by India’s first and only individual Olympic gold-medallist Abhinav Bindra. 

    However, it will also submit the report within a maximum period of four weeks. Other members of the committee include names of the former tennis player Manisha Malhotra, NRAI Secretary Rajiv Bhatia and two journalists.

    World’s first self-driving taxis launched in – Singapore

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 25th August 2016 World's first self-driving taxi service was launched in Singapore. After this, Singapore now became the first country in the world to launch such service, beating Uber Technologies Inc by mere days to public road tests of a technology that could revolutionize the transport industry.

    However, the trial, although small, illustrates how intense the global race to develop autonomous driving vehicles has become.

    South India's first Children's Court inaugurated in - Hyderabad

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 25th August 2016 First Children's Court was inaugurated in Hyderabad. More than this, it was also the first Children Court in South India. 

    However, two other states Goa and Delhi have already got their child friendly court.

    Here, the court was jointly launched by acting High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and TS director general of police (DGP) Anurag Sharma. It was also presided by T Rajani, Metropolitan Sessions judge, and Dr Soumya Misra, inspector general of police (IG), Crime Investigation Department.

    Sixth Annual List of The World's Most Innovative Companies 2016 released by – Forbes

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 24th August 2016, Forbes released the sixth annual list of The World's Most Innovative Companies 2016. 

    However, the list ranked companies using an algorithm to measure investor enthusiasm.

    Also the list is topped by Tesla Motors for the second consecutive year. 

    Here, five major Indian companies including Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consultancy Services, Sun Pharma and Larsen & Toubro have been also ranked among other companies in the list.

    Nine breeds of livestock and poultry registered with – NBAGR

    Among Important National Current Affairs, in the third week of August 2016 Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBAGR) in the third week of August 2016 announced that it has registered 9 new breeds of indigenous farm animals.

    On 21st June, 2016 The Breed registration Committee had approved the registration of nine new breeds of livestock and poultry.
