    Ministry of Women and Child Development to organise - POSHAN Abhiyaan TECH-THON

    The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development on June 25, 2018 announced to organise a day-long Seminar on Technology Partnerships ‘TECH-THON’ for steering POSHAN Abhiyaan on June 28, 2018 at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.

     The POSHAN Abhiyaan or the National Nutrition Mission is PM Narendra Modi’s initiative for holistic nourishment.

    The forthcoming “POSHAN Abhiyaan TECH-THON” is intended at civilizing the nutrition results via effective monitoring and time bounded intercession. The Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog will initiate the Seminar and release the Jan Andolan Guidelines of POSHAN Abhiyaan. 

    It will display and familiarise the individuals towards the creativity, interchange ideas to reconnoitre avenues of collaboration and enterprises for technological support, and reach-out to the effective and actual recipients ‘Jan Andolan’ towards Nutrition. 

    The Seminar will have the presence of Ministers, highest policy makers, representatives from UNICEF, World Bank, World Health Organisation, WFP, Tata Trust, BMGF and many more and Civil Society Establishments.  Leading specialists from various fields will be there to lead panel debates and exchange insights on addressing pathways of assistance and enterprises for technology support.

    A demonstration will also be held, showcasing the technology and other materials of POSHAN Abhiyaan in the corridor of Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra. About 300 contestants are anticipated to elegance the Seminar.

    BSE to launch new platform next month to list – Startups

    BSE is planning to initiate platform to make stock market citation attractive for start-ups. It will be started at its Small and Medium Enterprise segment.

    Key benefits of the Platform

    It will simplify the citation of corporations in sectors including Information and Technologies, Bio-technology, 3D printing, Space Technology and e-Commerce.
    It will help in citation of firms from automated defence, drones, Nano-technologies, Artificial Intelligence, e-Gaming, Robotics, Genetic Engineering amongst other sectors.

    Eligibility of the company

    A corporation requires to have a pre-issue paid-up fairness share capital of at least Rupees one crore.
    It should be in presence for a lowest period of 3 years on the date of filing the draft prospectus with BSE with a positive net value.
    The firm looking forward to incline on the platform should not have been denoted to National Company Law Tribunal under IBC.

    Anant Barua appointed as whole-time member of SEBI by -  The Union Government 

    The Union Government has nominated Anant Barua as whole-time member of the SEBI. He has been
    designated to position for 3 years on the salary as admissible to additional secretary to the central government.

    • Anant Barua is presently executive director in Securities and Exchange Board of India. He had accepted position as executive director of market regulator in May 2010.
    • Earlier to this, he was legal adviser, Legal Affairs Department, Securities and Exchange Board of India. He had been serving Legal Affairs Department since 1992.
    • He was on deputation to Central Bank of Bahrain as legal adviser and he has also had served NFL, IFCI and DCM Ltd.

    S Ramesh appointed as Chairman of CBIC by -  The Union Government

    The Union Government has nominated senior administrator S Ramesh as chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, which is the top policyforming body for indirect taxes. He has been designated as chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs as special secretary to the central government. He will succeed Vanaja N Sarna who retired on June 30 th , 2018.
    S Ramesh is 1981 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise). Earlier to this employment he was member in Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, mandated with accountability of executing the Goods and Services Tax.

    FSSAI proposes life imprisonment, Rs10 lakh fine for food adulteration on - 26th June 2018

    The FSSAI on June 26th , 2018 suggested stringent punishment for those contaminating food products after the Supreme Court order. Now, those contaminating food products could have life imprisonment and penalty of about Rupees ten lakh. The commendations are the part of amendments projected by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to amend the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

    • The controller has projected a sum of 100 modifications to the Act and has sought public remarks by July 2nd , 2018.
    • The policy suggestion recommends insertion of Section 59 in the Act that explains the penalty for the food adulterers with penalty of seven years or life imprisonment besides a fine of Rupees ten lakh.
    • It suggested formation of the state food safety authorities to impose the law in letter and spirit.
    • It suggested rise in the penalty for obstructing, impersonating, intimidating and threatening and assaulting a food safety officer. It suggested custody of not less than six months and about 2 years, besides penalty of up to Rupees five lakh. Presently, the custody in such cases is up to three months and fine is about Rupees one lakh.
    • The other modifications include regulation of exported food products under the FSS Act. Currently, it covers only sale of food items in domestic market and also imported food items.
